Overview

Start the day in the lap of luxury with a fast-ferry ride from Hobart in the Posh Pit section (ft. canapés and complimentary beverages. On arrival at Mona you’ll launch into some self-guided roaming of the museum and grounds, before a mid-morning private stroll to the Moorilla vineyard - hosted by one of Moorilla’s wine-nerds - and a comprehensive tasting of their range (Praxis, Muse, Cloth Label) in their deluxe underground wine bunker. Then it’s off to a seasonal, locally sourced lunch in one of Mona’s restaurants (featuring Moorilla's wines), and then an afternoon of further museum-exploration (or on-site bar-hopping, it’s up to you). Once you’re spent, you’ll hop back on the late-afternoon ferry back to Hobart, for further Posh Pit action (more complimentary booze and dessert canapés, if you’ve got any room left) and relaxation. You’ll receive a bottle of Muse or Praxis wine to take home, as well as a 15% discount on any purchases made from the cellar door on the day.

This is a self-guided experience. Meet at Brooke St Pier 15 minutes prior to departure. You will take the MR-1 Fast Ferry to Mona and Moorilla, located north of Hobart in Berriedale. No hotel transfers.

  • Museum of Old and New Art (Mona)

    Mona, the Museum of Old and New Art, is Australia's largest privately-owned gallery and museum. Showcasing the diverse collection of its owner, Tasmanian gambler and maths nerd David Walsh, Mona exhibits everything from ancient Egyptian funerary objects and modernist masterpieces to a word waterfall and a machine that mimics the human digestive system.

Unique and impressive experience. An art experience in every aspect. I Would definitely recommend a visit if you are visiting Hobart.

Celebrity Edge Shore Excursion to Mona Gallery

On a recent Celebrity Edge cruise to Tasmania, we had a Celebrity shore excursion to Mona Gallery. Included in our excursion was a ride to and from the Gallery in the posh pit on the Mona Ferry. We had a lovely lady tour guide, named Muriel, who accompanied us. On the day we visited, the ferry was very busy, but in the posh pit, we enjoyed wine and nibbles both going to and coming from the Gallery. It was certainly a novel experience for us in the posh pit and we found the service staff to be obliging. On arrival we declined the stairs and entered through the underground passageway and lift. There is a gift shop on the site with various products for sale. We enjoyed viewing the various exhibits on show on the various levels of the gallery. Some were quite disturbing, but when viewing this type of art, you "go with the flow". There are public toilets on site and a bar/cafe on the ground floor. The outside area of Mona has also many sculptures to view. Probably, we did not spend enough time here to take it all in, so maybe next time on a return visit we would visit the gallery again.

We took the regular seats Mona Roma ferry which took about 15-20 mins to reach the museum . My husband has trouble with stairs so we took the tunnel and lift which was no trouble. The museum itself was spectacular especially the architecture. Amazing. Some of the exhibits are questionable but if you keep an open mind they're fine. You dont have to linger if they offend! There are open spaces for children to discover and an outdoor cafe with music. We also did a Moorilla wine tasting which was wonderful and our sommelier (sorry cant remember his name) was brilliant! Great value for money and I'd love to go back again one day.

Fantastic journey and experience through the Mona museum, winery and restaurant

It was an amazing day at Mona, that all (adults) should experience. Museum is world class with provocative modern and informative historical pieces. The culinary fine dining and exquisite wines topped the day.

Fantastic Catamaran ride

Fantastic Catamaran ride up the river and the Cat is so brilliant ,extremely smooth ,and so comfortable , we did the trip to the Art centre Mona and just returned so as to enjoy the Cat ride ,food and drinks were provided and staff were fantastic and the views were amazing ,do yourself a favour and take the Catamaran ride
