Overview

Enjoy the experience seeing a variety of animals from around the world at the Melbourne Zoo. You'll find creatures from diverse habitats including the lush Asian and African rainforests and the sun-baked Australian bush. Explore open-air exhibits showcasing your favorite animals like zebras, giraffes, kangaroos, lemurs and monkeys. Watch the orangutans in their special elevated exhibit and walk the Trail of the Elephants. Melbourne Zoo is a fantastic destination for an enjoyable day out. The layout is flat and walkable, making it accessible for visitors of all ages. There’s an impressive selection of animals, and the well-planned enclosures and open spaces allow you to sit back and take in the surroundings at your own pace. The zoo’s location is another highlight—conveniently close to Melbourne and easily accessible by public transport, with train and tram services stopping right near one of the main entrances. A variety of restaurants and cafes are available, ensuring there are plenty of food and drink options to suit everyone. Overall, it’s a well-organized and relaxing experience for families, friends, or solo visitors. Highly recommended!

The Zoo to Visit!

Amazing place where you could see platypuses! We were lucky to see the one on a feeding spree! We also saw chimpanzee “flying” the ropes above the ground: This is absolutely unique to this zoo! We spend several hours in the zoo, and they rolled as a three minutes being densely populated with animal and plant views!
