Explore the past, present and future of travel all under one roof at this inspirational museum packed with exciting interactive exhibits, high-tech simulators and hands-on displays. Learn to fly an airplane and helicopter in the flight simulators; walk across a giant aerial photo of Switzerland; and see submarines, ships and steam locomotives galore.

  • Museum of Transport

    Head inside the Swiss Museum of Transport with your entrance ticket and explore at leisure. The museum charts the development of rail, air, space, road and water travel with hands-on exhibits, simulators and multimedia displays. Your ticket gives you access to its key exhibition halls and areas, filled with more than 3,000 displays, making for a fun day out for adults and kids. Visit the Aviation Hall to view historic aircraft and flying machines. The museum takes its exhibits to new heights with flight simulators that give you the rush of operating an airplane, helicopter, or hang glider. When it's time to get grounded, walk around the Rail Transport Hall to see steam locomotives and model railways, and try your hand at negotiating tunnels, signals and bridges in train simulators. Zoom over to the Road Transport Hall for the history of automobiles and to view 20 of the world’s most iconic cars. You can even turn into a crash-test dummy to experience a bruise-free collision in one interactive exhibit. Other attractions include the Navigation Hall with its fascinating seagoing displays; the i-factory covering information technology; and the Swissarena where you can walk across a one-of-a-kind aerial photo of Switzerland that takes up an entire room. Most people find two–three hours in the museum is sufficient, but your ticket lets you explore for as long as you like. For a supplement you can also visit the museum’s domed planetarium to witness its dazzling astronomical shows, and its Filmtheater to watch spectacular 3D and high-definition movies.

Great musuem

While expensive, this museum is fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the large exhibits on aircraft, ships, and railroads. There was also a neat section on logistics. This museum appears to have made a big effort to appeal to multiple age groups, including a transportation-themed playground in the middle of the museum. The cafeteria and cafe were both nice too.

It is worth to visit. Both educational and interesting as well. We can learn the past and present as well. Children must visit. Whole day you can spend easily.

You could literally spend hours here! Our teens spent most of their time between the cars and the air museum. Wonderful experience.

Cool place. A lot of things to do and see. Half a day can be easily spent. For the younger and the older. Looks fun for those that know things and those that don't

The only museum we visited on our short visit to Switzerland and we are glad we did.

Three hours was not enough. Every part of the museum was worth extra time. We have to go back! Our initial interest was in the aviation and space portion but we were just as pleased with the automobiles and trains.
