Overview

At Hurling Tours Ireland, we provide a unique cultural Irish experience for visitors. Established in the home of hurling, Kilkenny, we give guests an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in Irish culture, by attempting our most ancient sport, hurling. Hurling is a game steeped in tradition and history, played with a passion and intensity that is unmatched in any other sport. Our hurling experience in Freshford gives visitors the opportunity to experience this sport in a tradional Irish pub in the heart of the village. Here we give visitors a presentation information them of the history and rules of Hurling. We have had visitors from many different nationalities and backgrounds fall in love with Hurling and the culture it creates in Ireland. Visitors from Canada, USA and Australia even promising to join a GAA Club when they return home, it is never too late to try new things and why not the sport that is at the heart of Irish culture and community.

Amazing experience--so much fun. My son now plays on two Hurling teams at his college. DO NOT MISS this experience. Definite highlight of trip.

We had so much fun! James explained all of the basics of the game and the deep history behind it. He used our phone to video our "match", something we will treasure. A great activity for our family, bringing us closer to our Irish roots!

Would highly recommend anyone who is visiting Kilkenny to do this tour - we went as a group of 80 people as part of our company offsite, we had many nationalities and many different levels of capabilities and each and every person thoroughly enjoyed the experience. James gave a fantastic informative talk at the start all about the history of hurling and how the game itself works. We then split into groups and did some drills, learned new skills etc, great feedback came from every group saying their coach was outstanding. Well done to all the team at O'Loughlin Gaels. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. Not only did we learn about the sport of Hurling (and a bit about the Irish Culture) with plenty of humor sprinkled in, but we got to experience it ourselves and learn some skills. Another benefit was that the location wasn't a bad walk from where we were staying in the town of Kilkenny. Not having to drive was a bonus!
