Overview

The specie we mostly see during our activity is the Blue Sharks and you will enjoy to swim with them at their own natural habitat or look at them from the boat. Blue Sharks are very curious and pass very close to the boat, spend long periods of time surface swimming, just floating at the surface or in the boat you will experience very close interactions with these beauties. A very friendly species and one of the most beautiful animal around. We also happen to see Mako sharks, the fastest shark of the Ocean ! The activity have a maximum of 6 people on board to insure that marine life is comfortable and to provide closer interactions with the animals. Itinerary

At arrival at our base, you choose and try your equipment if you need any. Then Silvio, the guide will brief you about the species behavior and the activity. We head out for a check dive (15min) in a pristine coastal area to refresh basic snorkeling skills before we navigate 30min to 1h, to start "chuming" (attract the sharks). The animals can take 20min up to a few hours to show up, while chuming, Silvio will share with you his knowledge about the Sharks around a local organic and fresh snack with drinks. Silvio is a master in marine biology, guide and shark specialist with over 6 years of experience in science studying sharks and rays behavior, ecology and conservation at the Azores inside and outside the Atlantic Ocean. You will learn about the sharks ecology and behavior.The dive will last about 30 to 45min and we head back. The total duration of the activity is from 3h to 5h. This activity is also suitable for experienced free-divers, our guide is a professional free-diver. To use weightbelt one free-diving certification is requiered. Certified freediver will have a vertical cable set to max 20m and will dive along it in buddy teams. Let's Go Shark!

Absolutely Incredible!

What an experience! My wife and I did this for our honeymoon. It was wonderful. Silvio makes you feel very safe. They dive in first when a shark is found, then you go when it is safe. Mariana, who also works there, was so incredibly helpful and welcoming that it made our day feel so much safer and better. We saw a blue shark, almost 3 meters. They get really close to you! We even saw a sea turtle and jumped out to meet it, it was so cool!

Had a great experience with Silvio he was very helpful and well educated on the animals of the area, also he was very nice . When going in the water with the sharks Silvio makes sure you are safe and comfortable by making sure no shark gets to close and monitoring there behavior. RECOMMEND DOING THIS TRIP

Blue sharks snorkeling - Azores

A few months ago I decided to visit the Azores and dive with sharks. I immediately found the Go Shark Azores website. The dive guide, a guy named Silvio, is very nice and will guide you in snorkeling with these magnificent animals. In the water Silvio is very careful about both his guests and the behavior of the animals. We were in the water so long, with as many as four sharks swimming around us. Wonderful experience.

Snorkeling and seeing the fish was amazing. We had never done that before and so for myself and my kids it will be a great memory. Silvio and Bruno were lovely. It was fun to learn from a marine biologist.

Im captivated by sharks and was so glad that Silvio offered such an amazing trip to snorkel with real sharks innige open sea here at the Azores Islands. There was not a single minute inward afraid. I always felt safe and well prepared (great briefing before the trip). Apart from me there were 8 other people (snorkeller and diver and therefore also 2 further guides). We were encountered by 8 different blue sharks. 6 of them at the same time. They were so graceful and beautiful. I loved every single minute of the trip. I highly recommend to book a trip with Silvio / GoSharkAzores if you ever travel to the Azores.
