Kayaking in Øygarden Outside Bergen is a unique way to explore the coastline, enjoy local food, explore sealife, and local history.

Meeting points

Guide will meet you outside the maindoor on street level 10 minuts before tours start. Look for the guide with a Fjord Expedition sign.

Itinerary

Join us on this amazing nature experience, a guided kayak trip around Øygarden islets outside Bergen. Transport from the Tourist Information and lunch is included. During this beginner level tour, you will experience coastal wildlife, hear stories about local cultural and natural history, and enjoy delicious food made with locally-sourced ingredients. This tour is the best medicine for your body and soul! This tour allows you to safely experience the local islets around Bergen with the expertise of a local guide. You do not need any kayaking experience as we will provide instruction in safety and rescue techniques. Out among the islets there is plentiful birdlife. If you look down through the crystal clear waters you will see small crabs, shrimps and maybe a salmon jumping beside your kayak, if you look up you may see a eagle! Min age: ​​​​​8 years old No prior kayak experience needed. You will paddle mostly in double kayaks. Duration: 5 hours in total, included transport. Normally 2-2.5 hrs on the water. Departure point: The guide will meet you outside the entrance to the Tourist Information in Bergen. We return to the same place.

A wonderful experience with very warm guides Nina and Iris. Timely pickup and top quality equipment. Iris was an amazing kayak instructor and guide, with a lot of knowledge about the area. Tasty meal with fresh caught fish. Overall a memorable time and would surely recommend to anyone!

Wonderful day, even in the rain!

We had a fantastic time! The weather was cold and rainy but our guide Iris got us bundled up properly! We had so much fun exploring the North Sea and the little islands of the sound. We got back to a delicious lunch of salmon wraps and freshly made waffles with home made plum jam. Weather is unpredictable but don’t feel you should reschedule for bad weather. If it’s not safe, they will reschedule.
