Overview

Our trip starts at your hotel or a location in its vicinity, with our bus.Our destination is the port of Kisamos. As soon as we reach the port, you go aboard the ship to set out on the cruise.The ship departs from the port at 10:20. An hour later you reach the small island of Gramvousa.The ship stays at the island for two hours.The castle of Gramvousa is to be found at the top of the island. If you wish so, you can climb up the path to the castle, if not, you can stay on the beach and swim. (Climbing will take you at least 20 min to reach the castle. Proper hiking shoes are a must!).The ship departs from Gramvousa Island at 13:30, the breath-taking lagoon of Balos being its destination. Words can’t possibly do justice to the wild beauty your eyes will meet once you reach Balos.The white and at places pink sand, the turquoise warm and shallow waters, the rocks reaching for the sky around the lagoon, all these amazing elements come together to create a heavenly landscape!

My son, daughter in law, daughter, boyfriend, husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. The bus picked us up near our hotel made only one stop and delivered us to the ferry to go to Gramvousa Beach where if you are adventurous you can hike up to see an old Venetian Castle, water was clear and warm but would highly recommend water shoes because entering is through a lot of rocks and shells. You them board ship to go on to Balos Lagoon wether you will find turquoise warm water and breathtaking landscape. Good and drinks are available on board the ferry at very reasonable prices.

Well organised excursion with Kyriakis Travel. Pick up and return to hotel. Tip - do not hire an umbrella it is too windy. There is some shade at Gramvousa. You stop at Gramvousa for 90mins. Time for a swim and visit up steep hill to the Fortress. Then a short boat trip to Balos Lagoon. There is time to get lunch on the boat. The boat sells beer water and snacks all reasonably priced. (They take credit card) 150mins at the lagoon. There are beds and umbrellas (10€ for two). Sea is stunning. Great excursion.

This is the second time we have taken the trip by ship having driven to the port from Tavronitis We loved both stops and especially the beautiful lagoon at Balos to swim in ... warm blue water ... just fantastic Sitting on the deck with the blue sky, water and scenery whilst the wind cooled us down a little was perfect Food in the ship was grand and staff were helpful Will go again when we come back to Crete

Dont go by car. The best thing is to use transfer to the port Kissamos and then use boat. You will heatisfied by nice view and god place for swimming. The food is available in the boat. Small service is provided in Balos slso, but no food there.

The road with the rental car was pretty bad in the last part to the parking lot, so you cannot drive fast. It costs 1 Euro per person to pass the road. From the parking lot it took approx. 30 minutts down to the beach. Back we spent probably 45 -60 min. It is very steep uphill but we got a fantastic sunset. We came late and it was very windy this day, but anyway it was fantastic.
