Itinerary

  • Thingvellir National Park

    One of Iceland's most famous places. This is where the Vikings assembled every summer to discuss the law, make convictions and of course practice politics of their time (something that really hasn't changed much in 1.000 years) The National Park is also a unique place in terms of geology for this is the place where you can clearly see how the Tectonic Plates are pulling apart in Iceland.

  • Geysir

    We visit the hot spring area in Haukadalur the home of Geysir - the geyser all geysers are named after. Though the old Geysir has been dormant for some time his little brother Strokkur is erupting beautifully every few minutes.

  • Gullfoss Waterfall

    This magnificent waterfall is one of the highlights of the Golden Circle tour. It is hard to describe the experience of being there. There is something about seeing thousands of tons of glacial water rushing through every second. Truly amazing.

  • Kerid Crater

    This is an optional stop. A beautiful red cinder cone on the way back from the waterfall. A great way to stretch your legs and explore the volcanic side of Iceland. Admission fee is very moderate (around 3.5 US$) and is used to maintain the area.

  • Secret Lagoon - Gamla Laugin

    An optional stop. A perfect last stop before driving back to Reykjavik. This lagoon is one of the oldest swimming pool in Iceland built around 100 years ago to teach people how to swim. It is primitive but has been restored in a charming way. The pool is shallow (around 3 feet deep) and full with clear warm water. Dipping into this lagoon is refreshing for both body and soul and when you walk back to your car you might feel that you are sliding rather than walking. That is how smooth your body becomes after enjoying the warm water for a while. The admission fee is around 24 US$ per adult. Less for children and seniours.

Great Expirience!

He was amazing, he made it super fun and also show us a lot of things. He stopped to buy the traditional fermented Shark for us to try, he got us local candy, and he was very good making jokes to keep us entertained while in the road.

More than just a great guide to Iceland

I was able to join a tour on very short notice after other plans fell through and I was a bit lost, and thanks to Dofri I ended up having a great day with some very cool people! I saw a lot of beautiful places and we also went to get local food and talked about all kinds of interesting things. Thank you very much and I hope to visit again some day!

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our day with Reykjavik Erupts and our fantastic guide, Dofri! Dofri is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about all things Iceland. We enjoyed our comfortable van tour to the Golden Circle sights, and the local lunch spot food was delightful! While driving back to Reykjavik Dofri entertained us with Sagas of Viking and Icelandic lore! We are eager to return and revisit this unique and magical place. We highly recommend Reykjavik Erupts to all whom we speak to about our experiences in Iceland!

Best and most personal tour guide I’ve been to.

A full day with amazing views and an excellent tour guide. Our tour guide Dofri gave us a very unique experience with everything from a tour to the stables, great local food, great views of the waterfalls, geysers and the black beach. The enchanting Viking story’s took the experience to another level.

Wonderful tour! The highlight of our Iceland trip!

This trip was so wonderful that everything we did afterwards paled by comparison. Dofri helped me plan the tour and answered tons of questions. Then he coordinated with me the week prior to make sure we had the right clothes for the weather and that pick up would work smoothly. Steinhar was our guide. He meshed well with my family and graciously dealt with everyone's differing health and physical abilities. He was flexible about where we wanted to go, how much time we wanted to spend there, and where we wanted to get picked up and dropped off. We even got some hidden gems and extra views off the beaten path. With Steinhar, we learned a lot and laughed even more! (My family is still repeating Steinhar sayings a week later.) I wanted to learn about elves, drolls, and the hidden people and Steinhar's stories were excellent. If I could give this trip 6 stars out of 5, I would. Saying that it was excellent is underselling the experience.
