Overview

This tour will take you to discover the Salento coast with Gallipoli town starting from Lecce and crossing the peninsula among typical villages and vineyards also stopping, as an optional choice, in one of the most important Salento winery for a tasting experience. There will be no shortage of halts along the coast for fully enjoying the breathtaking views that will show you up. The journey will go on heading to a wonderful beach where you could swim and have refreshment before your independent tour among narrow alleys, shops and sea views of which Gallipoli will surprise you. In the case the wine tasting won't be done, like on Sunday days or depending on the cellar availability, we'll stop in Galatina for visiting its fascinating late Romanesque church of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, built in 1390, full covered with stunning frescoes by workers from Giotto school. This option will be selectable as "Discovering Galatina Basilica" also if you prefer to skip the cellar or the beach.

  • Piazza Salandra

    Transfer from Lecce to Nardò 30 minutes. Independent visit to Nardò Historic Center. A beautiful little medieval city with lots of historical Baroque buildings, the Castle, the Square and many Churches. The most beautiful is the Basilica Cathedral founded in the 11th Century, but all of that are unique.

    Eventuality of wine tasting tour in the Cellar (Closed on Sundays and depending on availability). In the same town of Nardò you can choose to get an independent wine tasting tour in one of the most important local winery (advance booking is required). The cellar provides different experiences from 3 to 4 glasses of different grapes wine, a little appetizer made with taralli and focaccia bread, plus typical cheese for 2nd option, and a full experience with 5 glasses of wine that includes a cold cuts platter too. The wine tasting cost goes from 30 to 40 euro/person and will be paid in the winery as your needs. In the case the wine tasting won't be done the time will be spent in the next halts, or adding some stop, as customer wish. See also the Tour option "Discovering Galatina Basilica".

    Transfer to the coast with short stops in some lovely villages like Santa Caterina and Santa Maria al Bagno.

    Transfer to Gallipoli beach passing by four towers fortification and the cut mountain.

  • Spiaggia Padula Bianca

    Stop at Rivabella beach. Here we'll stop for enjoying the place where you can find a lovely free beach as well as private lidos, so bring your swimsuit and towels for being delighted by an amazing sea.

  • Il Centro Storico di Gallipoli

    Gallipoli, the Ionian pearl, is divided between the modern city and the old one. The ancient city is located into a limestone island, connected to the mainland by the bridge built in the 16th century. Here you'll have free time to find out the historic center characterized by narrow streets crowded by local handicraft shops, lovely baroque Churches and aristocratic Palaces. Also worth seeing are the Cathedral, one of the best examples of baroque in Salento, the Castle built in the 13th century and the Greek fountain, one of the oldest in Italy. Note: The remaining hours of the tour will be spent on travel.

Fun day trip

Had a lovely day out with Bob - we were unable to visit any vineyards as it was a Sunday and they were closed but Bob helpfully told us this in advance and even offered alternate dates. Bob is well organised, kind and friendly. Has the best recommendations for food. Thanks again Bob!

Salento day trip with winery and beach experience.

Roberto was a wonderful guide. He took care of everything down to little details like making the reservation at the winery, bringing a beach chair and towel, making sure we were enjoying ourselves… we had a great day. Would highly recommend Roberto when visiting Salento area.

My wife and I had the most amazing day exploring the Salento area with Roberto. He designed and organized a private tour just for us with areas we wanted to see and explore. The day was amazing, relaxed, and nothing was rushed. We felt like we were spending the day with family and not on a tour. Roberto was kind, very funny, and welcoming. We went to an amazing winery. There was a beautiful table set up for us and we got to taste 5 wines. They gave us so much food her we left full….all typical Puglia specialties. Next he brought us to the most beautiful beach (Maldives of Italy they call it) where we had free time to swim, relax and have a drink. We explored Gallipoli, went to Santa Maria di Leuca and visited the beautiful Ciolo Bridge! Thank you Roberto for an amazing day and remember to always Scarpetta!!!!
