Overview

Visit of Cesis, Sigulda and Turaida Medieval Castles. As well beautiful city centre of Cesis and Sigulda. Please note that licensed guide service is not included in this tour. Our English speaking driver will give basic info, answer your questions, lead to the ticket offices and will advise best local restaurants for lunch if needed. If licensed guide is requested it can be arranged at the sights that we will be visiting, please inform us in advance if such service is needed and we will book guide service at additional cost. Please note that from 1st of November to 30th of April Cesis Castle museum and Āraiši lake dwelling site is closed on Mondays. During this time we will be able to see Castle only from outside, we'll do walk thru Cesis old town part.

  • Araisi Lake Dwelling Site

    Āraiši lake dwelling site is a tourist location with original and reconstructed remnants of Latvian prehistory. It is a unique nationally important archaeological site with remains of the 9th–10th centuries Latgalian fortified settlement. Today the lake dwelling is partially reconstructed and visitors can see rebuilt prehistoric Latgalian wooden buildings. During the excavations, remains of 151 wooden buildings were discovered, with 3700 artifacts and about a hundred thousand fragments of pottery. Using collected data, ethnographic parallels and replicas of ancient tools, today there are 14 reconstructed buildings of the first period of the construction of the fortified settlement. Site is a member of the EXARC organization of open-air archaeological museums throughout Europe.

Cesis castle was incredible and so was our tour guide.

Martin was incredibly knowledgeable and could not have done anything more to make our trip memorable and special. Nothing was too much trouble and he was incredibly friendly and kind. The trips to the castles were so interesting and in particular the Cesis Castle was the best castle we had ever seen. I would highly recommend this tour.

Great Castle Tour in Riga

Family trip, first time in Riga. The tour was very well organized. We were picked up right on time and started our way to Cēsis. There was a bottle of water for each of us in the van. The van and the tour guide (Mr Ivars) was very nice and explained everything in english. We did the first half of the tour, then had lunch in Sigulda and continue to the 2 final castles (Sigulda and Turaida). Mr Ivars was very patient, we had a person with reduced mobility and took a bit longer to walk the castles but he waited for us with a great attitude, despite being behind schedule. Our trip included 2 kids (10 and 11) and they also enjoyed history and the sight from the castle and their towers. Definitely recommended when visiting Riga for the first time.

Had a wonderful day seeing the sights and castles at Cesis, Sigulda and Turaida. I was picked up on time and Martins the driver/guide was an excellent host. Highly recommended and you will have a great day and it’s nice to get a chance to see the countryside outside of Riga
