Overview

It is an experience that shows you the secrets of the ecosystems of the cloud forest and the Cocora valley, where our guides will teach you to see what normally few people find. You will find a dazzling number of wax palms, thousands of hummingbirds in the Acaime Nature Reserve until you reach the sight of Cerro Morrogacho. Your route will be 12 kilometers to connect with nature, starting at an altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level in Salento up to 2,850 meters above sea level at the Mirador La Montaña.

Itinerary

Leaving Salento by Jeep for 25 minutes, you will find the Cocora Valley, located in the Central Cordillera of the Andes, it is the gateway to the Los Nevados National Park and home to the Palma de Cera, Colombia's national tree, some with more than 60 meters high and up to 200 years old. This landscape, due to its imposing view, becomes the best invitation to inspire travelers who are passionate about the mountains and hiking.

Rewarding hike in spectacular setting

Fantastic day hiking the Valle de Cocora. David was an excellent guide and we really enjoyed all his insights into this special part of Colombia. The scenery was stunning and we wouldn’t have discovered all the flora and fauna in the woods had we been on our own. Highly recommend this hike and Paramo Trek were very good at organising and communicating.

Best trekking company in Salento. We did the Cocora Valley tour and we had the best time with our tour guide, Mafe. She is very knowledgeable and so passionate about the valley! She showed us incredible places in the valley, such an amazing scenery. If you are in Salento, do not hesitate to book your tour with Paramo Trek.

Had a fantastic time! Our guide Seb was very knowledgeable and good at spotting birds. We spent ages at the hummingbird sanctuary and throughout the walk saw tons of bird life. The only negative comment was that lunch was back in town at 4pm once we had finished the hike, we were only provided snacks up to then.
