Overview

Experience wonderful Dunk Island with a Family Islands Cruise of some of the most spectacular islands of Australia. Choose from a guided trek to Mount Kootaloo or take a Family Island Cruise for more relaxed sightseeing. Scrumptious lunch and then a two hour visit to historical Paronella Park on our way back to Cairns. Come spend a magical day south of Cairns on the Cassowary Coast.

We depart Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal at 6.30am - please be on time as our coach cannot wait for late passengers regardless of reason.

Itinerary

  • Djiru National Park

    The journey to Mission Beach normally takes just under 2 hours from Cairns in each direction. But the journey is well worth it. You'll pass by Queensland's two highest maintains Mount Bartle Frere and Mount Bellenden Kerr. You'll pass by canfields and banana farms, see how the locals live. Then, when we turn off the highway you'll travel through dense Djiru National Park where you may be lucky to spot a wild cassowary.

  • Dunk Island

    Dunk Island is covered mostly in national park, the tropical island is a nature lover’s playground with beautiful walking trails and palm-fringed beaches. From the jetty, make a left and follow the beach until you reach the track signs leading to Muggy Muggy Beach and Mount Kootaloo. The are 6 different versions of the hikes possible from easy to moderate. There also great swimming from Brammo Bay as well as Muggy Muggy Beach where some marine life snorkelling is possible. Scenic coast ferry ride and marina boarding process with a light breakfast (included) within this time allocation (5.5 hours actually on the island 9.30am - 3.00pm)

  • Family Islands National Park

    Time to discover the remote islands of The Cassowary Coast. We cruise the wonderful Family Group of Islands. We pass close by exclusive Bedarra Island and further Wheeler and Coombe Islands. There are over 20 islands to appreciate during our slow cruise. A full commentary of the islands and sometimes we stop at some of the islands to embark/disembark camping or resort guests.

  • Paronella Park

    A 30 minute guided walk takes the visitor through the highlights of the Park and tells the extraordinary story of Jose Paronella's dreams and vision. Plenty of spare time after your tour to walk around at your own pace and interests to appreciate this historical wonderland

The perfect day out on Dunk

Absolutely fabulous day out to Dunk and surrounding islands. Leo, Brian, Manu and the crew made us feel like VIPs. Such beautiful islands and lush national parks.

Secret Cassowary Island Tour

Beautiful and relaxing day Brian our captain pick us up from Our caravan park. We were greeted by Leo who gave us a light breakfast with fresh muffins and tea and coffee. Before arriving at Dunk Island Brian gave us suggestions on what to do for 2/1/2 hrs . We chose to do a walking track to a safe swimming beach and relax . Upon our return on board we took off to our secret Island. At this time we enjoyed our chicken wraps with soft drinks and wine taking in the many Islands (yummy Chicken wraps . Afterwards Leo brought up a tropical large fruit platter for each of us. We arrived on our secret island by a tender to relax and snorkel. Before we returned to Dunk Island I got to taste the captain’s secret cocktail (so good) and cheese and biscuits. After picking up other passengers we headed back to mission beach and dropped back off to our caravan park. Thank you Brian and Leo for giving us a beautiful day and looking forward to after us in so many ways . Kland lots of tropical fruit and served a soft and a wine for me. walk toanother beach

Had the an amazing time out today with BRI and Leo!!!! Super breakfast and lunch…. Snorkeling and tinny trip to island… HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!!!!!!

Good service, really nice staff and great spots! The barrier reef is a must visit. Dunk Island Adventures is worth any penny!
