We were lucky enough to get an awsome tour guide. Oscar went above and beyond to give us an outstanding personal tour filled with loads of local culture and history of the island. Even tho we do not drink anymore we did stop for a Tequila tasting.
The man was very informative and had top notch tequila. Anyone who drinks, i would recomend this company. They take a lot of pride in making the absolute best. Did you know there is a wrong way and a right way to drink tequila? I sure didn't. This man will teach you the right way. And surprisingly it works great. There's a whole history about why they make it and why they drink it. Fascinating! The Myan village was also very interesting and we got to taste Myan honey and chocolate in a new way. It was delicious! Unfortunately, i can not remember the lady's name who gave us the tastings but she was a source of information and you could tell she was very much an active part of her ancestral culture. I did include a picture of her, so if you visit be sure to say hi and talk to her. Moving on to the lighthouse. Seeing the island from the top of the lighthouse was breathtaking. We were able to see the ocean and the "wetlands", for lack of the true name, side by side which is just crazy considering one is fresh water and one is salt water. We got to snorkel at a wonderful little area and had a truly delicious meal for lunch, that was included with the tour.
We highly recommend booking a guided jeep tour with Go Experience,
ask for Oscar Vega. (private/personal is best).
