Know the Bologna through the food.

The tour was very nice. First, we were alone with the guide Federica which allowed us to have a good conversation. Federica was very interesting, described us how dishes are prepared, what is history and legends connected to tortellini, tortelloni, tagliatelle and many other Bolognese specialities. Coffee was very tasty, tortellini in broth in Herbs Market very delicious. We tasted different kind of meat, cheese and wines in the restaurant. To reach each place we needed to walk, which was nice tour through the city. It was the first time we were on such a tour. It was very nice introduction to the city. I highly recommend the experience.

We loved this tour! Our guide Mattia was fantastic, spoke excellent English & was SUPER-knowledgeable about the history, culture, architecture, and—of course—the food in Bologna! The food in & of itself was fine, not knock-your-socks-off amazing, but we went to some really cool places: a coffee shop that’s a favorite among locals, 2 different markets, & a bar/restaurant that’s been open since the 15th century! Also if you’re GF it won’t be a problem—like me, Mattia has celiac so he stopped ahead to get some GF treats for me to eat at some of the stops where there weren’t good GF options.

Federico was a knowledgeable, delightful guide! We learned a lot about Bologna and had a wonderful time sampling all there was to eat and drink. We would love to take another tour with Federica the next time we are in Bologna.

What a wonderful way to be to know Bologna! Tour guide is an actual chef who was so very knowledgeable, answered all our cooking questions, had great historical facts and honestly was just a really good person and had lots of laughs. Highly recommend!
