Overview

This delightful drive winds its way to the heart of Cape Winelands, through superb mountain ranges, Vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. The region boasts great beauty, culture and is steeped in South African history with the sheer vastness of wine estates on offer. The day also commences with a visit at the Malay Quarters to have a brief history of the Rainbow houses, culture, food and Muslim religion. With a stop at Diamond Works and Castle of Good Hope.

Itinerary

  • Castle of Good Hope

    Our day commence with a stop here at the Castle of Good Hope. Being one of the oldest buildings in South Africa, the Castle of Good Hope is one of the historical stalwarts that is still open to visitors. It captures the historical events that took place in the Castle dating back 350 years ago. The Key ceremony and the Canon Firing all form part of the experience. Please note: The Key Ceremony runs Monday to Friday; Cannon Firing does not take place on a Sunday; These ceremonies are weather dependent.

  • Bo-kaap

    Known as the Malay Quarter is the colorful houses, our first stop begins here. A multicultural neighborhood dominantly populated by Muslims. Bo-Kaap contains the largest concentration of pre-1850 architecture in South Africa and it's the oldest surviving residential neighborhood in Cape Town. Here you will experience the beautiful rainbow houses, learn more about the History and Culture of Bo-Kaap, taste delicious Cape Malay cuisine at one of the finest restaurants, get to mingle with the locals and take lots pictures too.

    The Sparkling Diamond experience tour. Here you will witness the first hand, art of diamond cutting and the careful craftsmanship of jewelry manufacturing by our skilled experts. All whilst enjoying a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. (OPTIONAL)

    After we leave Lanzerac wine estate we will pop in at Delaire Graff Estate, where you will be left breathless by the art, architecture, gardens and food.

  • Lanzerac Wine Estate

    A few minutes drive from Stellenbosch town center lies Lazerac, it is well known to many as a well appointed and elegant country hotel resting within the beautiful Jonkershoek valley. But Lanzerac is more than just a hotel. The historic homestead which bears the 1830 on its gable and lies on the ground that was given to its first owner 140 years earlier also presides over vineyards and also a winery that together produces excellent wines, both red and white . It is also known to be the first winery to bottle a native South African wine called Pinotage. A chocolate and wine pairing here is conducted by well knowledgeable Sommelier.

  • Franschhoek

    Franshhoek can be loosely translated to French corner. An area which was given to the French huggenots of the 1680s to grow vineyards. Surrounded by the Drankenstein mountains, when you are in Franschhoek, you could be anywhere near the world. Colonial whitewashed buildings graces the vibrant streets of the food capital city of South Africa. A behive of shopping, Beligian chocolate tasting and the very best place to have lunch.

Cape town Winelands tour

Was a very pleasant experience! Loaded with great views, interesting tidbits and some digestible morsels of useful information. As a day out for wine lovers I'd give it top marks. Oh and Fred the tour guide was worth his weight in red wine!

A great day - very worthwhile experience

I don’t normally do tours as I prefer to travel independently. However it would be almost impossible to visit wineries in Cape Town this way. So we did the Red Bus Citysightseeing three wineries tour. Our guide, Charles, and driver Division, were fabulous. Very knowledgeable but without being over the top. The wineries were set in stunning locations. Absolutely beautiful. And each venue was itself top class. We had more than enough wine. More than three wineries in a day would be too much so I would avoid some of the tours which do more. We saw some stunning countryside on the way there and back. We thought this was actually good value for money.

Well-paced, well-guided. Friendly, efficient, informative, fun. Lots of wine (surprisingly lots of wine), nice pairings at each stop. Definitely recommend. Try to get a tour with Brahm!

Great day exploring Winelands and wine tasting. Informative and fun guide. Value for money. Cheese platter at Simonsig was a delicious way to start the morning and then the chocolate pairing at Rhebokskloof was delicious!
