Overview

Take off on a time-traveling journey through the Boyne Valley in Ireland, where mysterious vistas and a rich past await you. First up is the Hill of Tara, home of Ireland's High Kings, which has a rich historical background and stunning panoramas that include the fabled Coronation Stone. Proceed to Trim Castle, Ireland's largest Anglo-Norman castle, where its imposing walls and lush grounds bring mediaeval tales to life. Following that, we go to Loughcrew, the location of Neolithic passage tombs with complete rock art covering the inside walls that date back more than 5,000 years. After our visit, we will eat lunch at a restaurant. The trip ends at Fore Abbey, the serene remains of a monastery Saint Fechin built in the seventh century that invite reflection amid the resiliency of history. With stops at both holy hills and monastic ruins, this journey allows you to immerse yourself in the spirit of Celtic heritage and experience a piece of Ireland's rich history at every turn.

Our driver flann was to the earths end one of the best guides I’ve ever had. He was as knowledgeable as any archaeologist I’ve ever met.

By far my favorite thing we did during our week in Dublin. The city is great and all, but there were some truly spectacular views and history hiding not far out in the country side. Our guide, Flann, was simply brilliant. Very easy to listen to, quick and witty, and extremely knowledgeable of the ancient history, and also gave amble time for the beautiful scenery to speak for itself. The tour was paced perfectly. Nearly every hour we were somewhere unique and beautiful and rich, given just enough time to soak it all in before moving into the next thing. Many of these day trips involve hours upon hours sitting in the bus, nearly all of these stops on this trip were within 20-40 minutes of each other. The spot for lunch was also timed perfectly, the food was great, inexpensive, and had a beautiful view of the rolling hills. Also included a brief demonstration at a distillery, which was a nice surprise! Highly recommend

Flann was an excellent tour guide. He honestly went above and beyond. He is a wealth of knowledge and I love his passion for Ireland and in particular the Boyne Valley. We even learned some Gaelic. Truly a magical experience.
