Overview

CABO DE GATA ACTIVO, the only company in the Tripadvisor® Hall of Fame to have received the TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence every year since 2015. In this adventure we combine a physical activity, such as the practice of sea kayaking, with the pleasure of enjoying and knowing from a unique perspective, the magnificent Cabo de Gata - Níjar Natural Park. Knowing the cliffs of the Natural Park and its caves from the sea, on board a kayak, is an unforgettable experience, since many places and corners can only be seen from this small boat. The kayak routes through Cabo de Gata are so special because Cabo de Gata is one of the Spanish natural areas affected by a greater number of protection figures, both natural and cultural. These inscriptions are based on their geological, ecological, historical, anthropological and landscape richness.

Meeting points

!VERY IMPORTANT!!! We will indicate the final meeting point by Whatsapp the day before the activity (it may not be in the Fabriquilla). For days with east wind it will be in La Fabriquilla or Agua Amarga. For days with a west wind, it will be in Las Negras, Los Escullos or San José.

Itinerary

You will enjoy a privileged panoramic view of the Cabo de Gata coasts from the sea, its coastal towns, the whimsical shapes of the cliffs and volcanic formations in the area. You will learn a little about the Natural Park, its flora, fauna, geology and you will observe its seabed.

The guy in charge made us feel safe and reassured. There was no judgement if you didn’t want to snorkel and he explained everything very well. I only caught 30% of it as his accent was strong and he spoke quickly but his english was great.

Giving them a 5 star rating because Cabo de gata Activo was able to help us with changing our schedule from the morning slot to the afternoon after talking to the customer service of Tripadvisor. We had a little luggage mishap as we arrived on the 9th late afternoon flight and had a 10am booking the next day but with no clothes we were accomodated to the 4pm slot. The meet up to the location was a quite a drive from Almeria but worth to see the landscapes. The location we had was Las Negras/ Cala del Cuervo. Many restaurants to choose from and a free parking in that area before heading to Wecamp where there is free parking as well but no place to change clothes except in the car. The activity itself was fun and challenging. Good experience with friends. The tour guides, Dani and Javi, were accomodating. Javi did try his best to speak english and we understood his explanations throughout the tour. They also took some photos with their go pro and posted it a day or two afterwards on their website. Downside is we only got screenshots from their website and the quality isn’t all that great but a nice memento. Maybe for a little extra charge (and extra work) they can email it to the applicant’s registered email for better photo quality in the future.

The guides were friendly and explained everything in English for those of us that didn’t speak fluent Spanish. The tour was beautiful and they gave us multiple chances to stop and take in the scenery. We learnt some of the history about Las Negras and about the environment. The snorkel stop was amazing, there were so many fish and the water was completely clear. The photos were all included in the price which is fantastic. Overall would highly recommend!! We had Dani and Havi, they were both brilliant.
