Reached Bohol Island from Cebu City with just 1 hour ride in a Fast Craft. Experience the once in a lifetime swimming interaction w/ the Whale Sharks locally called Butanding.
Butanding is the world’s largest fish found in the Philippine waters & 100-peso bill. This gentle giant which can grow up to 12 meters long or about the size of a bus but feeds only on small animals like shrimp. Their bodies are spotted, in patterns unique per individual like human fingerprints. Unlike its torpedo-shaped shark cousins, it has a wide, flat head w/ its mouth in front. Their backs are spotted in patterns unique per individual like human fingerprints. Despite their colossal size, Whale sharks are filter-feeders & pose no threat to humans.

A very exciting experience with the true Gentle Giants! Indeed, something to put in everyone’s bucket list. A lot of tourists present even in the early morning so best to come very early to avoid a swarming pack of tourist.
