    The Monastery of São Bento do Rio de Janeiro is a historic monastery located on Morro de São Bento , in the center of the city of Rio de Janeiro , in Brazil . It is one of the main colonial art monuments in the city and the country. Work on the São Bento Monastery began in 1633 based on a project from 1617, and important modifications and expansions were carried out at the end of the 17th century. The monastery still functions as such, with one of the most important and traditional educational establishments in Brazil alongside it: the Colégio de São Bento , founded in 1858, which trained a considerable number of Brazilian personalities, such as Pixinguinha , Benjamin Constant , Noel Rosa , Antônio Silva Jardim , Villa-Lobos , among others.

Fantastic storyteller and friendly local

Bruno is wonderful! I initially scheduled a food tour and he was able to adapt and add on Christ The Redeemer and a favala tour. He really made our experience in Rio authentic. Bruno is engaging, honest and exuberant. I highly recommend booking him particularly if you are English speaking.

Definitely a great option for those traveling alone. Finding Bruno was the best thing for my trip. I had two days to explore as much as possible. Bruno took me out on his lovely night tour where we went to the SĂŁo CristĂłvĂŁo Fair, a Samba School and we finished in Lapa. He also took me to the Farmers Market located in Gloria the following morning. Definitely a great, fun and respectful guy that will truly provide you an experience. Great for female travelers. Thank you Bruno for the experience

Bruno was an AMAZING tour guide! He worked with my friends and I to give us the best experience in Rio. He was so flexible, and he helped us plan events for the days he was not with us (like getting tickets for a soccer game). He also made sure we got the best shots, taking great pictures of our little group. We left with so much knowledge about the city and we could tell he loves sharing his city with others! We were lucky enough to spend 2 days with him and we covered so many places, got to eat delicious food, and had a trip we will remember for the rest of our lives!
