Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Continue to the Jewish Quarter, once the largest Jewish settlement in Europe! Here in the area with unusually mysterious atmosphere we find number of exceptionally preserved synagogues and the ancient Old Jewish Cemetery. The highlight of the walk is the Prague Old Town with the beautiful Old Town Square. This old marketplace, originally built in the 11th century, is Dominated by the splendid Church of Our Lady Before Týn and the Old Town Hall. Here, as a living witness of the history, the Prague Astronomical Clock has been measuring time for more than six centuries.

Vltava River

After the lunch you will still have an opportunity to explore some of the most picturesque narrow streets of medieval Old Town on your way to the pier. Now, pleasantly tired, you hop aboard a fully wooden boat built in the tradition of the 19th century and your Vltava River cruise can start! Do not forget to have your camera ready to capture snaps of some of Prague’s legendary landmarks as you go, now from a different perspective! In winter, the guests are kept warm by period stoves and hot wine, in summer they are served cold beer or soft drinks accompanied by a sweet treat.

After your cruise you have a unique chance of a free visit to the Charles Bridge Museum which is located at the very same spot. In front of the Charles Bridge, at Krizovnicke square, by the Statue Charles IV.

This tour was most of the day and provided a nice overview of lesser town and old city. Our guide Hannah was extremely knowledgeable and well informed and happy to answer any questions! We learned a lot of history and the traditional lunch midday was a welcome break to visit with our small group and get off our feet for a bit. If you like knowing some history of the areas you are walking through I highly recommend.

A fabulous guide makes all the difference. Booma was amazing, a detailed knowledge of the city, evidenced by her ability to answer questions accross a range of areas off script. Walked and trammed around. Ate a decent local lunch. The tour came with a free boat ride (after booma had left) which was very disappointing- the boat kept circling and hardly went anywhere, showing us things we had already seen on the tour.

This tour exceeded my expectations and I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to see the major highlights of Prague with an extremely knowledgeable tour guide. Janna took the time to explain a bit of history and local lore, as well as insights an thoughts on many things. The tour was personable, designed in such a way that you looped through multiple parts of Prague with ease, and the built in coffee and lunch break made for a great time and more authentic experience. Added perk - you really do get to see all of the major highlights (exteriors) in one go!
