The Belfast Eclectic City Center Walking Tour is the most popular experience along #theMartiWay. You will hear of its past history, its present innovation and future redevelopment .

Itinerary

  • Belfast City Hall

     After meeting at City Hall this walking tour will be an introduction to what else to see and do while in Belfast some of which is free when opened. You'll hear of great places to wine and dine in the cities best gastro bars and resturants and hearing a description of where Belfast came from and get a background of how the period known as the troubles are a part of the birth of Belfast. You'll hear of its past history, its present innovation and future redevelopment . And then we set off to discover some of the places and people you've just learnt about in the introduction to the tour. Passing the Titanic Memoral Garden as we strowl into the Linen quarter to reach our next stop.

    It's hear you'll hear of the development of the Memorial garden to the Ill-fated HMS Titanic.

    And having discovered how the linen industry developed the town of Belfast. We'll discover some of the Belfast buildings (like this remarkable church) along the way that make the city such a beautiful and unique space. As we enter the Markets area.

If you are doing a tour in Belfast make sure you do the Marti way walking tour!! It was so informative and fun, we are still giggling thinking about all the stories Marti told us. He had some good recommendations on where to go and what to do in the city. It was well worth it. You won’t be disappointed with this tour!

A highly informative tour on our first visit to Belfast

Marti welcomed us and we went on a 'Back to the Future' tour with a detailed insight to Belfast and its unique history  including 'The Troubles'.  We visited the main historical sights and discovered how Belfast's industry transformed over the years.  As we moved around the city with Marti, he greeted quite a few local people which gave us the idea of a small friendly city, but at the same time very lively.  We entered beautiful buildings, catching a glimpse of Belfast's City Hall and the Merchant Bank.  His tour was very informative and his love of the city showed through. He also gave us tips on where to eat, good pubs to visit and where we could see some Irish dancing! We highly recommend this tour and on our next trip back to Belfast we will definitely be back for another one of Marti's tours!

I spent the day with Marti doing a double day of tours. I’ll start by saying I’ve done many tours in many cities in many parts of the world, and can definitively say that Marti is the most knowledgeable tour guide of his city that I have ever had. Hands down. I was amazed that after 7 hours he still had plenty of new knowledge and there was zero overlap between tours (& he offers additional tours to those I took). As a professor and closet historian I am always looking for deeper knowledge and Marti did not disappoint. How a person remembers that many events, locations, names and dates is beyond me. He clearly has a passion for his subject and has spent a lifetime preparing to give you your next tour. I’m no stranger to Belfast having hosted many times and taken a variety of tours. Marti’s tour tied so many ends together and provided such a rich context and new perspectives to help provide a deeper meaning. He’s aware of the past, the present and the new directions of Belfast. At the end of it all, you appreciate that this tour is a reflection of Marti himself and his eclectic life adventures and experiences with so many facets of Belfast. Two thumbs up!
