Our African Food & Storytelling Experience takes you off the beaten path to uncover our favorite hidden African gems from different parts of Africa. Our experience celebrates community kitchens and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, each with its own story to tell. We delve into the vibrant tapestry of African cuisine, connecting with the rich traditions that span the African diaspora in Cape Town. Our journey comprises approximately 7 stops, each offering a taste of different authentic African cuisines and dishes as well as homemade beverages. But this experience goes beyond just savoring food; it celebrates resilience and entrepreneurship. We spotlight remarkable African entrepreneurs who have created unique community spaces in the face of economic and social challenges, especially in a city undergoing rapid gentrification.

Meet us on Church Square right in front of Labotessa Hotel opposite Groote Kerk. We recommend taking an UBER, as parking is limited in the city center. Please plan in enough time for travelling so we can start on time.

Not only did I dive into the rich history of Cape Town, but the guides masterfully wove stories that connected the city’s past with its vibrant culinary scene. Every tasting was a delightful discovery of hidden gems that you simply can't find on your own. If you're eager to explore Cape Town's captivating history and the diverse cultures that shape its identity, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Dennis, our outstanding guide, revealed the city’s best-kept secrets. Even as a resident of four years, the experience was eye-opening, showcasing the myriad cultures flourishing around me. I loved the variety of cultures involved in the tour, and my heart smiled with nostalgia when I got to eat a local cuisine I last had as a child in my parents' house. An interesting tour with Dennis and Fez. Good broad knowledge of history and architecture of CBD and great food from African restaurants that we wouldn’t have known about. None of us were newbies to Cape Town but they quickly judged what we were interested in and what we knew.

An absolute YES for anyone visiting Cape Town. I’ve visited CT my whole life but today I stepped behind the tourist curtain, dined on simply delish local cuisine and had an absolutely memorable and magical afternoon. Dennis & Fez kept just the right balance between history & current affairs and created a space for this beautiful city tell her multicultural story. And in case you wondering - it’s very safe too.

Layered explorations of cbd

Our tour guide Fez was a funny, intuitive and fascinating guide. He really took us into a deeeeep dive into the CBDs African diaspora and their food, the layered histories of Cape Town, the political situation and difficulties of CPt as a rapidly expanding city. It was such a welcome and needed tour that brought us into some niches that would be otherwise hard to find. Fez we wish you all the best on your theater journey! My highlight was the senagelese food! Hope to see your name on Broadway soon!
