Overview

The Gamboa Rainforest Resort is located in the vicinity of the historic Chagres River, alongside the Panamá Canal, in the midst of the fifty-five thousand-acre Soberanía National Park. Enjoy a day with nature experiencing two of the most popular attractions in Panama: boat trip on Gatun Lake and The Aerial Tram and its exhibits. The Aerial Tram allows you to discover the secrets of the upper forest canopy. Each gondola takes you from the shadowy forest floor through the under story and into the sun-drenched canopy. The boat trip on Gatun Lake slowly cruises the back channels, island and bays that make up this unique ecosystem all the way to the Monkey Island, get your camera ready for a close up! To complete your day, at the Sloth rescue center, you can learn how these adorable creatures which are usually sick, injured or orphaned, are rehabilitated and prepared to get back to their natural habitat.

A really fun day.

We went on the afternoon harbor cruise with Captain Alan and his two mates Kathy and Suzanne. Captain Alan was very knowledgeable of the History of Punta Gorda and was funny and entertaining as well. Kathy and Suzanne were both very helpful and knowledgeable as well. We did get to see lots of dolphin who played and swam along with the boat. I would certainly recommend sailing with the King Fisher Fleet and especially with this crew. Nathan Davis.,,.Flat Rock, Mi.

I loved this experience so much! Meeting all the monkeys was so heartwarming. The aerial tram was a cool way to view the rainforest and it was very informative. I also enjoyed seeing the sloths. Michael was our driver and he was so great! We were able to chat with him and learn even more about Panama than we expected. He made the tour even better!

The aerial tram was beautiful. We saw a Toucan up close in a tree top with its gigantic yellow beak. The sounds of the monkeys and birds as we rode over the canopy of the rainforest was amazing. At the Sloth sanctuary we saw 4 sloths and a huge ant eater. Monkey Island and the 2 islands next to it were so cool. Our guide knew how to call the monkeys out of the trees. He got them on the front of the boat eating fruit, and catching fruit he threw to them as they sat close up in the trees. He spotted a sloth in a tree, a line of tiny bats on a tree, and a baby iguana swimming that he scooped up for everyone to see before he released it. Our driver Michael was over the top amazing. He continuously shared his vast knowledge of the areas we were visiting. He was beyond what could possibly be expected of a driver. He went out of his way to point out things as we were driving, even taking a side turn now and then to show us something. He was truly exceptional.

What an excellent day! Our guide picked us up, right outside the port. We were then dropped off at tour stop. Our tour included: boat ride/tour of Gatum Lake, filled with monkeys, crocodiles, etc. Then, off to the tram ride, which takes you to the top for some spectacular views. And, lastly, the sloth sanctuary.
