Overview

A local, permitted guide will show you all of the highlights of Acadia National Park plus the famous fjord Somes Sound, the Asticou Gardens and go to an authentic lobster pound (where lobstermen bring their daily catch) for lunch! We will pick you up and weā€™ll drive along the stunning 27-mile long Park Loop Road up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. From Cadillac summit you can see spectacular views of Bar Harbor and the surrounding islands. See all of the famous sites on the Park Loop Road, including summit of Cadillac Mountain, Rockefellerā€™s stone bridges, Otter Cliffs, Thunder Hole, and Sieur du Monts Gardens and Nature Center. We will continue on to see the summer colonies of the rich and famous. Drive along the fjord, Somes Sound. Finish in Southwest Harbor to have lunch at an authentic lobster pound while looking over Great Harbor Marina. We can stop and stay as long as you would like at each location. We will point out trailheads and carriage roads to explore on your own.

We will pick up from any Downtown Bar Harbor lodging, no need to find parking! If you are staying outside of downtown Bar Harbor we will meet you at the Hulls Cove Visitor Center of Acadia National Park. There is a large parking lot. The Guides will meet you under the ... covered pavilion. If you are coming by CRUISE SHIP please book a tour start time at least 2 HOURS after arrival. We are a tendered port, when you are on the tender so we can inform the guide to come meet you. Feel free to explore town before your tour, the guide can pick up from anywhere in downtown Bar Harbor.     See the top highlights of Acadia National Park famous Park Loop Road, a touring road built by the Rockefeller family.

  • Cadillac Mountain

    Enjoy 360 degree views of Mount Desert Island from atop the summit of Cadillac Mountain. See your cruise ship in the harbor!

  • Eagle Lake (Pass By)

    See deep glacial lakes formed as the glaciers tore across Mount Desert Island.

  • Sand Beach

    Look over vistas to beautiful Sand Beach and the granite outcropping of the surrounding Great Head.

    Stop and walk down to Thunder Hole and see the beautiful pink granite coastline

  • Somes Sound (Pass By)

    Somes Sound is a fjard, a body of water running deep into Mount Desert Island, the main site of Acadia National Park in Maine, United States. Its deepest point is approximately 175 feet, and it is over 100 feet deep in several places. The sound almost splits the island in two.

  • Southwest Harbor

    See the fishing community of Southwest Harbor on the panoramic Great Harbor. Stop at an authentic lobster pound and see the working lobster business. **Lunch is on your own. A full menu is available.

  • Seawall Pond (Pass By)

    Many of Maine's beaches are covered with cobblestones, but this coastline is unique. Powerful ocean storms created a massive seawall. As waves break, they carry rocks from the base of the beach and carry them up to shore. As the tides come in and out, heavier stones get piled at the top and smaller, lighter stones remain down the slope.

Acadia for a day

Jeff showed us all over Acadia NP! We missed the leaves changing by a week or so, but that didn't keep us from seeing this beautiful park. He was very helpful with getting us all in and out of the van and gave us ample time at each stop to enjoy the views.

Pete was the most incredible tour guide around. Even he would admit that we were probably some of the younger people to participate in this tour. My lady and myself have plans for a potential move to the area, and he did wonders to give us a behind the scenes tour of Acadia. We saw so many places that were popular and under the radar. Consider yourself lucky if you get Pete as your guide!
