Overview

If you like an adventure in wild and overwhelming nature and a good conversation around the campfire, this is the trip for you! This tour is set up like an expedition, where everyone will work together to accomplish goals. You have to be able to paddle in calm and windy circumstances at a normal pace. Everybody needs to be able to swim and to be strong enough to lift a fully packed kayak in and out of the water, in rocky and slippery landing conditions.

Meeting points

The start of the tour is at 10.00 (am), please meet at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure. The tour will be finished on the last day in Geiranger at 14.00 (2 pm).

End point

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

Itinerary

We will kayak from Ålesund through the Storfjord & Geirangerfjord towards Geiranger village. Along the way, you will be able to enjoy the impressive fjord and waterfalls like the massive Seven Sister waterfall up close. Start your kayak expedition at the Atlantic coast, where you will leave Ålesund and make your way into the fjord landscape, paddling through the fjords and enjoy camping on an island. While paddling deeper into the fjords, day by day, let yourself be awed as the landscape surrounding you transforms gradually. This fjord kayaking trip in Norway does something with you along the way, the sheer size of the fjords, the beauty of the cultural heritage, meeting the locals, clean and pristine nature. Daily routines and pace brings you back to nature, to yourself. Sharing this with a small international group of people, the stunning waterfalls, a porpoise blowing in the silent evening or an eagle catching a fish is just a natural fit in your experience. High Quality Company That Created the Trip of a Lifetime.

Norway Adventures created the most amazing custom experience for our hiking trip in September. We had a group of 17 people with all different levels of fitness. From the beginning planning stages, we worked with Lucia & Rogier. They worked diligently to meet the needs of our group and make adjustments until we settled on an itinerary that met the needs of our group. Once we arrived in Norway, we met our main guides, Antwon & Ian! Those guys were professional, skilled, and a lot of fun to be around! They worked endlessly as we had some unforeseen flight issues, out of our control, that caused last minute schedule changes and rearranging of transportation, which was all handled seamlessly. Every hotel/cabin we stayed in was stunning and had impeccable customer service. All of the restaurant reservations were also amazing in quality, service, & history! Whether we were hiking, kayaking, or climbing, Norway Adventures provided additional guides to create options and meet the needs/physical levels of capability; while also providing comfort & safety so everyone could experience the beautiful views of Norway. I could not recommend this company enough and hope to return sometime in the future. Cheers!

As my time in Scandinavia comes to a close, I have to thank Norway Adventures and especially Antonie for fulfilling some goals with my family heritage. My linage comes from Norway and Sweden, and it was important for me to paddle the waters and to hike the mountains as my forefathers. Norway Adventures provided me that platform and my family thrived in the environment. Antoine was a gentleman, attentive and caring. He is first.rate, and his spirit will be with me for a long time. Excellently organised and guided by enthousiastic and highly skilled staff. Epic view on Geirangerfjord. Expedition style kayakking and camping on hidden gems on the fjord. Must do when you are looking for adventure!

I am struggling to put into words how fantastic this trip was! We have been on a few kayaking trips all over the world and they all seem to pale into insignificance compared to the Alesund to Geiranger trip with Rogier and Lotte from Norway AdvenTURes. Such fantastic guides, good kit, amazing scenery and good company. I particularly loved the traditional farm stay and the amazing scenery in and around the fjords. Paddling down the Geirangerfjord was such a great reward at the end of the trip! I would fully recommend this trip if you are able to sustain paddling for a few hours a day and happy to help with cooking, moving kayaks about and sustaining the friendly banter! Thank you to everyone involved in making this such a special experience!

Exceptionally fun and rewarding toyur

I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. Rogier and his assistant Lotte were excellent guides. They told great stories, showed us some amazing corners of the fjords and the farms that folks kept along them, made good decisions, and paid close attention to safety. Very patient as well. Highlights were of course Geiranger Fjord, but also the Ytste Skotet farm/museum high above the fjords, and the kayaking itself. Food was plentiful and good. We paddled about 5 hours a day, with breaks for lunch and covered a total of 100km. The trip is appropriate for anyone who is fit, ready to sleep in a tent, and willing to help out with tasks like hauling boats out of the water and pitching the tents. A remarkable experience.
