Overview
A three day northern lights adventure along the south part of Iceland. We will visit waterfalls, black beaches, glaciers and amazing glacier lagoons. Each night we will hunt for the Northern Lights with a very knowledgeable guide. One of the myths explained that the lights tell stories about animals and nature. Some spoke of the aurora appearing when whales were playing games, while the Danes believed the lights were caused by swans competing to see who could fly further north. According to legend, some of the swans became trapped in the ice and as they tried to escape, they flapped their wings creating flurries of light in the sky.

You probably did not know that the English name “geyser”, derives from the one and only in the Haukadalur area. The geyser Geysir itself erupts boiling water up to 70 meters but is almost inactive. Fridheimar
At Friðheimar greenhouse, tomatoes are cultivated, using geothermal heat and geothermally generated electricity. With a tropical climate inside, they have opened a restaurant, right there in the tomato field. The main ingredients in their menu are, of course, tomatoes grew there. This is a very rare and unique lunch experience.

Skaftafell National Park belongs now to a larger, Vatnajökull National Park, which covers Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe, and the surrounding wilderness.
