Overview

Ahmedabad city tour finds out why it is India’s first city to be awarded the World Heritage City by UNESCO. The 600 year old walled city is a treasure trove of architectural and cultural hot spots. Ahmedabad City Tour takes you on a cultural tour through the home of Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram, an ancient Step Well that is over 5 stories, an incredible Jain temple with 52 shrines and the iconic Tree of Life at Siddhi Sayid Mosque.

    8AM- Hotel pick up We visit the home of Mahatma Gandhi, where he led the legendary Salt March of 1930. Built in 1917 along the banks of the Sabarmati River, Gandhiji lived here for 12 years. Learn about India’s Freedom movement and the non-violence philosophy by walking through these corridors. His living quarters and household artifacts all tell a story!

    Hutheesing Jain Temple was built during a severe famine to provide employment to hundreds of skilled artisans. There are as many as 52 shrines dedicated to the Tirthankaras.

    We visit the Siddi Sayid Mosque to see the world renowned “Tree of Life” which is latticework done on semicircular arch-windows. This motif has become the unofficial symbol of Ahmedabad. The Mosque was built in 1572 by the Gujarat Sultanate in their final years of rule before losing to the Mughals.

A wonderful way to see the city. Jamshed was a great guide and I felt I saw so much of the city in just one day. The stepwell was a total highlight. Lunch was also excellent.

I would highly recommend this tour. It was an amazing cultural experience. My tour guide, Malek, was excellent - very knowledgeable and provided me with the history and side stories of every spot we visited. Lunch was also delicious. I have fallen in love with Ahmedabad.
