Interesting and fun workshop

Published on Mar, 2024

Onigiri is something that can be found around Japan at several stores like an easy take out food. But It has a lot of history and diversity. At the workshop, the staff gave us a brief lecture on the history and examples of different types of onigiri. They also gave us a very clear and easy to follow explanation about the ingredients and how to make onigiri. The staff put a lot of effort and love in the workshop and the food. It was very fun and we learned a lot about onigiri.

Awesome workshop

Omg, where should I even start? I had a great time learning Onigiri. We see Onigiri every day in a convenience store, and people eat it every day, but I never thought that this comforting food of millions of people has such a long and meaningful history. I had fun making onigiri and talking to teachers. They were super friendly and kind. The way they explained things was amazing. The ingredients they provided were high quality and super tasty. The pickled stuffing to put inside the onigiri was super-duper tasty. I couldn’t stop eating them. They even provided us with delicious miso soup. We had a small quiz, where I won an organic soy sauce. I would recommend this workshop for people who want to learn about Japanese cuisine that has history! If I could, I would love to participate in this workshop again.  -Chai

Fun, tasty and traditional experience!

Published on Feb, 2024

It was a very interesting workshop! Onigiri is a well known food in Japan and, even though it's quite simple to make, it was very interesting getting to know all the tricks that locals use to create the perfect shape and consistency. I will definetely use the learned techniques to prepare my bento at work. I especially loved getting to know more about the history of this traditional food. I didn't know that it had such a long history behind. Making the food didn't take a long time but it was definetely fun. The highlight though were the flavours! The picked ingredients are extremely high quality and you can definetely taste the difference between handmade onigiri and combini ones. The miso soup that accompanied the onigiri was also amazing. If I could add anything else to the experience, also making the miso soup would be it. Other than the food, the teachers were also great! The prepared materials had english explenation and the some of the staff could speak english. So it's definetely a foreign friendly experience. Overall was a 10/10 experience that I will definetely recommend, especially to foreign people looking forward to learn more about Japanese traditions, even the more simple ones, like the making of this handmade, cozy, family food! - Monica
