Overview

This is a Kamakura private tour using by public transportation. Kamakura is called “the Kyoto of Eastern Japan”, because it used to be the capital of Japan from 12th to 14th century. It’s the first government by the Shogun, a top of samurai warriors. Kamakura offers numerous temples, shrines and other historical monuments. In this tour, we will visit three famous temples and one shrine. See inclusions and excursions for what is included in the price of this tour.

Itinerary

  • Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura)

    This temple was built in 13th century and this Buddha is the landmark of Kamakura. (Entrance fee:300 JPY)

  • Hase-dera Temple

    This temple was built in 8th century and it has a nice Japanese garden, statues of Buddha, view of the Pacific Ocean and a unique cave shrine. In June and July, hydrangea is so beautiful. (Entrance fee:400 JPY)

  • Hokokuji Temple (Takedera Temple)

    This temple was built in 14th century and has a beautiful bamboo forest. This temple is something different from other temples in Kamakura ( Entrance fee : 400 JPN).

  • Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine

    This shrine was the official guardian shrine of the Kamakura shogunate and worshiped by warriors as deity of the military.

Wonderful Day in Kamakura

Kono san was an excellent guide and Kamakura is a wonderful place to visit. The area is by the ocean and there is so much to see and explore. I wish we had more time to spend in Kamakura but the sights we got to see were stunning, especially the Giant Buddha! Kono san met us at our hotel in Tokyo and navigated us to and from Kamakura which was really helpful and saved us time trying to figure out train transfers and bus transportation once we arrived in Kamakura. We would highly recommend this tour! We would suggest that additional time in Kamakura be added to the tour to see more sights! We greatly appreciated Kono san’s efforts to ensure we had a wonderful day!

Our tour guide came right on time at the hotel. Yoshi is very kind and knowledgeable , guided us for the transportation and it was a good experience since it was our first time in Tokyo and train ride was a challenge.

Yumiko was a fantastic guide—she helped us navigate the trains to Kamakura and then took us to all the best parts of the city. She explained the history behind the sites and took fantastic pictures of us as well. We couldn’t have had such a great day without her. Highly recommended!!
