While in Orvieto we wanted to enjoy a winery experience -- but not a big capacity, more-commercial winery. I heard about Madonna del Latte through Tripadvisor. Highly rated, we booked a tour, tasting and cheese/meat tasting. Before we left I coordinated our tour with "Leon" (via email) who was responsive, helpful and even arranged for a taxi for us from our rental in Orvieto to the winery (NOTE: Get your cameras ready, the view of Orvieto on the drive is BEYOND AMAZING!). We live near Sonoma and Napa, so we are accustomed to wineries and wine tours. This experience was 5 stars when compared. A family owned and run winery. The tour (handled by Anna) was fabulous -- she was a spectacular story teller. Her knowledge and production information was well beyond what we have learned at other wineries in California. Then the tastings -- complex, delicious and wonderful wines! We especially liked the Pinot Nero and Cab Franc. My husband is a red wine bit-of-an-aficionado and was VERY impressed. Cheeses and meats were all local and perfectly paired with each of the four wines. During our tasting a young man came through and shook our hands -- it was LEON THE OWNER AND WINE MAKER! So lucky to meet the man behind this wonderful family winery and our experience. We walked away very impressed. Highly recommend.
