Cafe Arte y Pasion is meeting point for the short 3 hour version. This is an iconic place very easy to meet your guide. The long 6 hour version has a driver to take us to the other places and hotel pick up - drop off.

    This cafe is the first stop and meeting point

  • Avenida Jimenez

    After the market, you will walk towards Avenida Jimenez and 7th Avenue, where you will start to get a clear idea of the initiation of the political conflict and learned what happened during the riots of Bogotazo in 1948. You will visit Santander Plaza, the San Francisco church, Jorge Eliecer Gaitan´s memorial and view the eclectic architecture of the city center. Walking along 7th Avenue towards Plaza Bolivar as you get a better understanding about Colombia´s troublesome history.

  • Museo Nacional de Colombia Fragmentos

    Next, you will head to visit the "counter-monument" Fragmentos built by the artist Doris Salcedo and a group of women who were victims of Colombia's armed conflict.(Gallery closed on Mondays) This artwork was built using the melted rifles of FARC ex-members as raw material and will stay on display during the same amount of years that the armed conflict lasted. Contrary to a common monument this artwork has a very distinctive approach to what a monument should be, represent and feel like.

  • Centro Cultural Gabriel Garcia Marquez

    From Fragmentos you will go back on a short walk towards Selva Nevada, a company dedicated to preserve biodiverse crops throughout Colombia working hand in hand with conflict-vulnerable farmer communities through fair trade and association. The ice-cream here is full of exotic options as well as the traditional flavors. It´s simply delightful.

  • Plaza de Bolivar de Bogota

    Once you arrive to Colombia´s main Plaza, it’s time for a Q&A session. So many things have happened in this location, including the siege of the Palacio de Justicia in 1985, one of the most remembered and bloody episodes of the country. Also, endless number of demonstrations in favor and against the Peace Agreement signing in 2016 and many other events that have marked the current situation of the country.

  • La Trocha - La Casa de la Paz

    (Only Included in the 6 hour tour) La Casa de la Paz, (the House of Peace) is an open for dialogue space owned by former FARC militants who today are members of society. Here, you will also have a chance to meet people from different parts of the country who have been directly affected by conflict, and today they are leaders, artists and owners of different entrepreneurships and you will have the chance to contribute by visiting their craft shop. This stop is where you will have a taste at one of the best craft beers in Colombia, La Trocha ale porter, and as you have your drink you will be able to meet the people in the space, buy souvenirs and walk around the brewery.

  • Chapinero

    (Only included in the 6 hour tour) We finish off with a lunch at a farm-to-table restaurant Salvo Patria that makes contributions to peacebuilding communities though their unique and delicious food.

Learning about Peace

Great tour focusing on the history of civil violence and the ways that peace is impacting the lives of so many. We really enjoyed the discussions as well as the Fragmentos museum. As you walk on the tour, you will notice other historical aspects.

Fascinating tour. A really insightful guide to Columbia’s history and culture. Highly recommended. Our guide brought us to Caio us sections of the city and included in the price was a fabulous farm to table lunch., which was simply delicious.

This was one of the most interesting tours I have been on. Raul our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. It was interesting learning about the troubles in Columbia and the efforts being made since. The places visited were very all relevant and the visit to the art installation was very moving. This tour is outstanding and it is delivered by a first rate guide Gigio! This tour provides a thorough overview of events key to understanding conflict and peace in Bogota and Colombia. Our guide Gigio, who has personally been impacted by violence, led us through Old Town and highlighted the complexities the role Bogota has played in Colombian political and social history to help us appreciate the struggles of the Colombian people. Gigio patiently answered a myriad of questions. He also made sure we had treats at the market where local businesses are thriving. For those of you think only of Colombia as its Narco reputation, come and hear about the resilience of the people.
