Overview

Opened on the 6th of September 2021, Odysseo is the first oceanarium in Mauritius. Spanning over 5,500 m2, our aquarium contains 45 tanks that hold a total of 2 million liters of water, and are home to 3,500 aquatic animals. Odysseo Mauritius is a place of discovery, education, and awareness. Our purpose is not only to amaze our visitors but also to awaken their curiosity and their desire to learn more. We are all citizens of the ocean and it becomes essential to explain that the ocean has a major role in the great equilibrium of our planet and a huge potential, which is important in our daily life if we know how to protect it.

    The Oceanarium showcases 45 habitats of different sizes and shapes, with a total capacity of 2,000 m3 of water (1,500 m3 being in the main aquarium). Visitors will encounter with some 200 species (3,500 specimens at the openings) of the Indian Ocean.

A unique experience

We have visited many aquariums in North America and they all pretty much display the same species in each location. I was very impressed at the unique species they displayed at Odessey. It was fascinating to see creatures that were exclusively from the Indian ocean instead of the Atlantic and Pacific. A very enjoyable experience.

We went to the Oceanarium with the kids and they loved it! The way the aquariums and the infos are displayed are very fun to follow and easy to understand. A must-visit spot in Mauritius for sure! Oh and the "restaurant" is very affordable.

My family and I travelled from South African to Mauritius and made a stop at Odysseo Oceanarium. I purchased the tickets online before visiting, the booking process was simple and easy to navigate. The oceanarium opens promptly at 09:00. The facilities are clean and we were very impressed by the friendliness of the staff. There are different fish species and also reptiles. I would highly recommend anyone with kids to visit this place as there is alot to see and everything is well displayed. There is also a food court midway and fish feeding activity at a small price for the kids.

A night to remember

We booked Odysseo to experience the famous "Sleep with the Sharks" activity. It was indeed very impressive to observe animals behavior at night but it was amazing. I would like to thank Marine who was our guide on that particular night as she was awesome, very passionate and caring ; she made the visit and the stay a pleasant one. Special thanks goes to Mr Darga also as he made the booking process and communication easy. We will surely come visit the oceanarium again with our son this time. Wishing the whole team best of luck and keep this noble job done. Mrs Kasha.
