Being a tourist, visit the cemetery and learn the ways of the dead. It is a very informative tour. It is just a short walk from the meeting point.

Very informative

This was a great tour. The guide was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. I learned a lot. He knew much, not only about the cemetery, but also was helpful with ideas for after the tour.

Super informative and a nice lady

MARY was such a sweet woman and a wonderful tour guide full of historical information and some family ties to some of the famous folks that are laying for eternity in the cemetery. Super informative and just a sweet woman to listen to.

Local lore, facts, and fun!

Published on Jan, 2025

We were in the Perpetual Care of Zelda, our guide, during this tour. There were so many headshaking-facts she imparted about New Orleans, burial practices, the funeral industry, and local culture going back centuries. The American burial customs highlighted were founded in religion, wealth, and even disease. This cemetery is not open to the public without scheduling a tour due to its age and vandalism by knuckleheads, over the years. Don't miss this intimate look into the history of New Orleans. Do you know the origin of the phrase, "I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole?" You will.
