Overview

Florence is not the only Renaissance city in Italy. You can still find some traces of that period in Milan as well! Unveil the last masterpiece from Michelangelo right in Sforza Castle, located in the heart of Milan. A few steps away from Duomo, the Cathedral, one of the most beautiful piece of art is resting: Pietà Rondanini by Michelangelo. He did this amazing sculpture when he was 89 years old, only a few days before his death. But it is not all about Michelangelo! Have you ever heard about his friend Leonardo Da Vinci? During the 1.5-hour guided experience with our monolingual guide you will hear many stories about him as well. Finally, every secret of the Castle is going to take life: visit the courtyard and the interior of the Castle and learn about Milan’ powerful families.

    is a large fortified complex built in the fifteenth century by Francesco Sforza. Over the centuries it has undergone changes and transformations and has been restored by great names such as Luca Beltrami. It houses unique pieces such as the Pietà Rondanini.

Do this your first!!

The tour gives you a history and orientation of the castle and a tour of some small sections but there is a lot more to see and your ticket allows you entrance to it all. Go in the morning and plan to stay the day or return later. The tickets are good for all day up to 5 pm. We had planned another excursion later that day and I was sorry for it because there was still so much else to see. Also, do this tour early in your stay in Milan because it orients you to the history and geography of Milan itself. Everything made a lot more sense after learning the history of the Sforza castle. Make sure this is in your list of things to do!!

This was a great experience. It was a small group tour (total of 4). The guide was very sweet, knowledgeable, and delivers the information in a greatest way. I totally recommend this tour.
