Overview

Hosted by local owner opereror Dynamic Journey Tours. For those that are seeking a more genuine tour, with a locally based tour company, this day is designed to focus solely on the Grand Canyon coming from Sedona, along the way up we drive within the glorious Oak Creek Canyon, passing through Flagstaff while sharing geology and history info the entire way. We then stop for lunch at Cameron Trading post within the historic Dine' (Navajo) reservation then enter first into the East Gate. We then visit 4 points of interests along the canyon and learn the geology, geography, and history/mystery of the Natives and settlers, finally exiting the park at the South Gate. It's biggest advantage is a local guide that has studied all the relevant subjects, making the tour as comprehensive as possible and visiting more sites than most other tours, thus having the most amount of experience one could have while visiting the Grand Canyon!

Itinerary

  • Oak Creek Canyon (Pass By)

A quick drive and geologic and historical lesson while we travel onto the Colorado Plateau. We discuss the settler history, unique geology and experience a major climate change in less than 20 minutes.

  • N/A (Pass By)

Experience the wonderful colors of the painted desert while we drive across the Navajo nation to the East entrance of the Park. We talk about how this seemingly barren, yet beautiful land, is home to the oldest group of natives in North America, and the legends that unfold.

  • Cameron Trading Post

A break for lunch. As well as the best place to buy native art and see souviners.

    1 hour

  • Grand Canyon National Park

This is a fantastic tour designed to focus solely on the Grand Canyon. We spend 4-5 hours exploring the rim, discussing the geology, and interpreting the ancient past of Öngtupqa, the great Salt Canyon that holds 13,000 years of mystery. The course of the day consists of 4 stops along the rim, with lunch in between. A short walk along a paved path, and then we make our way back to Sedona after 4 hours of sight seeing.

    4 hours

  • Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower

We make a full stop here to enjoy the incredible architecture of the desert view watch tower. Designed as a replica to all the Archaeoastronomy sights in the Southwest. Its the first view Grand Canyon.

    30 minutes

  • Lipan Point

Here we get the singular best view of the Colorado River anywhere in the National Park! We point out formations, and the painted desert, as well as spending time with you at this stop to point our how the views are constantly changing!

    25 minutes

  • N/A

Here we visit the site where Thomas Moran painted one of the most iconic scenes in the Grand Canyon. This is where I point out the specific geology of the Grand Canyon, from only this point can you see every layer exposed.

    20 minutes

  • Yavapai Point

Last stop, with in the parks Village boundaries. This is where 70% of visitors frequent, most do not leave the Village area. This is here the train, the restaurants, and all the hotels are located. Its the deepest. widest part of the Canyon considering its 278 miles distance. Its the main show, from here is where you group gets to spend a full hour roaming and exploring. The views are nearly incomprehensible. This will be out last stop while in the park. We have more stops, and allow more time to explore the park and Village than nearly all other companies, including Utah and Nevada based operations.

    1 hour

  • Sedona

Return back to Sedona. Expect a 2.5 hour trip, we do make a pit stop half way back.

Perfect Grand Canyon Tour

Published on Dec, 2024

Excellent Tour and very professional! Would recommend to anyone! Connor was very knowledgeable and helpful with anything we asked!

Extraordinary Experience

Published on Nov, 2024

Conner was the best tour guide ever. So much interesting information and facts about the entire area. The 2 hour drive to and from the Grand Canyon went by so quickly. He was very accommodating and patient. Never felt rushed. We definitely got our money’s worth and more. I highly recommend this tour.

Private Grand Canyon tour with kind, knowledgeable and trustworthy guide

Published on May, 2024

My mother and I had a fantastic day touring the Grand Canyon with Connor in early May. He picked us up and dropped us off promptly at our Sedona hotel. He was professional, knowledgeable and an easy conversationalist. We learned and explored more than we would have been able to do on our own. It was nice to sit back, relax and take in the views, history and geology without any added pressure or stress. He exhibited clear passion in the subject matter and shared a lot of interesting facts with us, but was never overbearing. A truly great guide and well worth the money (since this is a private tour, you can really maximize your time and tailor the day to your interests). Book early as his schedule fills up - you won't be disappointed!
