Overview

Submerge yourself deep into the routs and what Santo Domingo culture has to offer! We will experience a tour full of historic events, historic sights, iconic landmarks as well as enjoy a full Dominican meal "mofongo" full of flavor and explanation of its origin. We will Ride the colonial Zone in a electric scooter, see sights like the "First Street", the "Alcazar de Colon", as well as other sights. We will also travel to the Three Eyes Caves National park and the Columbus Lighthouse. Finally we will make our way to the restaurant "Mofongo Heaven", a restaurant that specializes in the famous plate called Mofongo. Please note: the total duration of the tour it’s approximately 5 to 5:30 hours. Including all tourist point and the travel time to each specification. (Punta cana tours take an additionla 3 hours because of the bus ride)

    The beginning of the tour, where we start with the modern day history and the know the faces of our founding fathers.

  • La Puerta del Conde (Pass By)

    Entrance to the New world colonial Zone and its history.

  • Plaza Juan Baron

    Seafront park with Fairground rides. We will learn about the Santo Domingo Obelisk and the importance of the Miraval sisters in our modern History.

  • Fortaleza Ozama

    Medieval-style fortress built in the 16th century.

    10 minutes

  • Alcazar de Colon

    History of the palace built by Christopher Columbus sun. Where we will see art and furniture from that period in time. Enjoy the Spain Plaza and its views.

  • Monasterio de San Francisco

    Scenic ruins of a 16th- century Monastery. What is used for today.

    5 minutes

  • Parque Colon

    First City Square, what it represents today and the oldest Cathedral (The Americas)

  • Columbus Lighthouse (Faro A Colon)

    Christopher Columbus Memorial.

  • The 3 Eyes National Park

    We will enter and learn of the 3 caverns with scenic underground lagoons and a 4th which have been feature in films like Jurassic Park and more.

  • Mofongo Heaven

    To finalized the tour our final stop will be, A typical mom and pops owned restaurant rich in flavor, seasoning and culture. With their main Focus being the traditional Latin plate Mofongo. They pride themselves in sharing the importance of the green plantain and how in the Dominican culture it plays such an important role in their every day life. Serving a large variety of Green Plantain based dishes. We will enjoy one of the dished and a natural fruit based juice. (not included in the scooter part only tour)

We actually took this tour twice! Once in February (as a couple) and again in April to bring our family when they came to visit! It’s such a fun day - the scooters are a blast and Jr really knows his stuff with the history, we learned a lot! The tour through the national park is breathtaking and the lunch after is the cherry on top. You do have to text Jr when you arrive to coordinate exactly where you guys are meeting (but none of that is difficult, despite what some of these reviews make it seem like) and then he handles the entire day! Fantastic tour and intro to the DR - thank you!! :)

A must do tour while visiting the Dom. rep. Our tour guide Josh was amazing. Not only dis he speak clear English( awesome) but he was very detailed and clear about the history. Answered all our questions was very patient with us. Made it he’s business to make sure we learn as much as possible. Loved the Mirabal sister part, very empowering to women. Definitely recommend.

I had a great time learning about the history of DR and Santo Domingo. Junior the tour guide had a lot of insight and knowledge. He was accommodating and communicative. We saw the important and impressive monuments/plazas/cathedrals and rode the scooters! It was a lot of fun and a very memorable experience.
