In this tour we will go to the principal wine areas in Rioja, Rioja Alta & Rioja Alavesa, where you will enjoy the experience of learning about 6 centuries of winemaking tradition, in 3 different style wineries from the best professionals in Rioja. For lunch we will go to a medieval village founded in the 10th century and you will eat local food paired with the traditional wine that locals drink in the ara; an amazing experience that you can't miss!

It is said that the wine supply in Rioja Alta is one of the richest of Spain and probably the world. Each town has its own wine tourism offer, from the smallest village to the capital of La Rioja Alta, Haro, with its famous Station Quarter. In the late 19th century, wineries were built close to the railway station. Today they are among the great names of Rioja wine, universal references. Walking through this area is like walking through history. We will visit one of the most historical wineries in Rioja, and you will realize how they have evolved architecturally, artistically and, of course, in their winemaking, learning the history of winemaking and wine traditions to become the modern winemakers we see today; finally, we will taste some of the most classic Rioja wines.

After that, we will go to Rioja Alavesa, situated between the Ebro River and the Cantabria Mountains, giving this region a privileged microclimate for vine cultivation. The most amazing thing is the mix between the traditional production processes with new technologies; you will be able to sample everything from vintages aged in medieval caves through wines produced in the most avant-garde installations. We will definitely visit one of these wineries, a building that combines functionality and aesthetics, designed by the world's most prestigious architects where wine is the true protagonist, it is a must-see! Then, we will have lunch in Laguardia, a beautifully kept 10th century fortified town, that still conserves all the charm of old medieval village set between vineyards, enjoying their delicious and traditional food pairing with wine.

Finally, we will enjoy a professional tasting to compare the different styles of the wineries we have visited during the day: Traditional Wines versus Modern Wines. Can't say enough great things about this tour. Although I absolutely love wine, some tours overwhelm you. This was a full day tour and was a great mixture of winery tours, lunch and just relaxing and enjoying. Great people, van was comfortable, and the tour size was perfect.

Rioja Like a Native

My wife and I had the most wonderful time with Rioja Like a Native (Rebeca and Roberto). Roberto was our guide for the majority of our time and we had a blast. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He was also a built-in photographer for the experience (a huge and welcome surprise for a honeymooning couple). We would absolutely recommend Rioja Like a Native for anyone wanting to plan a trip to Rioja.

The Best of Rioja - Wine and History.

This was an absolutely fabulous tour. It introduced us to the Rioja wine region and gave us a great understanding of how the wines were developed and produced in this region. Rebeca and Robert were fabulous hosts. They communicated excellently and the love of their region showed throughout the tour. The tour group was small and intimate, resulting in an experience I will never forget. Highly recommend this tour.

My wife & I are wine lovers and enjoy visiting wineries and vineyards in different regions. This was our first visit to La Rioja, we put it in the hands of Rioja Like A Native Wine Tours, and we could not have made a better decision. Starting with their informative website, followed by excellent pre-trip communication with Rebeca, the Founder of the business (who was so helpful with my many questions!), and then when we finally arrived at the Logroño train station and were met by delightful Fito, who would be our Guide for the next two days – our time in La Rioja with these friendly, kind, caring, knowledgeable, organized and professional people – good people – was excellent! We spent two days experiencing Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa “Like A Native” with these fine folks, mostly with Fito, who was great! We had fun, visited diverse wineries, learned a lot, tasted great wines, ate delicious food, saw historical and beautiful sites, and met very nice people. My wife and I felt like we were with friends & family. There is much more that I could write about our wonderful time and experiences with the good people at Rioja Like A Native Wine Tours. Suffice it to say that they deliver what they promise. If you look at their website or what is on Tripadvisor, what you see is what you get – and it is fabulous!
