Starting off with a famous Philly snack, this 45-minute tour will tantalize your taste buds and provide insight into the Market's vibrant history. Our expert guide will lead you through the Market's bustling aisles, pointing out must-see spots and sharing stories of the Market's past. Come enjoy a fun and informative tour of the market, with an option to take home a scrumptious treat too. Advanced booking is required; walk-ons not guaranteed a spot. Our Tour Guides accept tips, and they are greatly appreciated. Tipping is left up to the individual, but as a general practice, 20% is the common gratuity for service workers.

Meeting points

The tour meets near the mailboxes in the back corner of the Market between Herbiary and the PA General Store. It is closest to the entrance on Arch Street. The restrooms are nearby, but look for the green "Meeting Point" sign near the mailboxes. Plan to arrive 10 minutes before the tour begins.

This helped me get my bearings in the market and perfect amount of snacks for the time (~45 mins.). I was able to go back later on my own and had a better sense of what I wanted to get on the follow-up visit.

Reading Terminal Market food tour a must!

I did the tour with a group of work colleagues and our guide was Michael. He had lots of little interesting tid bits of information about the history of the Market and the food there. You can of course go to the market yourself and go around the stalls and buy/try things. However, some of the very popular items like Dinic’s pork/beef sandwiches (melt in your mouth meat), had a queue around the corner of you hadn’t pre-ordered! So doing the tour saves you time and disappointment too. We also had a little room that we were able to sit down and eat in with our big sandwiches. That was easier than walking around trying to eat amongst the lanes. After the tour officially finished you can ask all about any other food outlets and recommendations. Then go visit some more. Great food and great guide. Enjoy!
