Overview

Our guides are experienced and knowledgeable and will take you on a journey through our sky. Learn to find north and the location of our seasonal triangles, constellations and planets. Using high-powered laser pointers, we will provide you an entertaining and scholastic experience, with stories about ancient civilizations, Greek mythology, and the evolution of the Cosmos. Our telescopes are operated with a keypad and are as easy to use as sending a text. Telescopes are pre-programmed with our object list for the night. Pressing one button on the keypad moves the telescope to the next object. We regularly view the following types and classes of objects: Galaxies, Nebulae, Star Clusters, Double and Binary Stars, Planets, Earth’s Moon, Globular Clusters, Comets, and more. Depending on timing, the International Space Station (ISS) and Starlink trains can be seen passing overhead.

Our observation site is in a remote location with NO cell service or bathroom facilities. It is crucial to have these detailed directions downloaded before heading out.

Itinerary

Stargazing Joshua Tree is pleased to host you, family, and friends for an entertaining evening of stargazing and astronomy under the internationally certified dark skies of Joshua Tree. Starting with a short walk through a scale model of our solar system, our guides will familiarize you with our neighboring planets as astronomical twilight begins to set. Each guest lounges in their own zero gravity pod. These pods conform to your body, eliminating pressure points to make it comfortable and easy to view the star-filled sky. Each guest also has a pair of Celestron Outland X Binoculars to view the sky from their pod. Our astronomy guides will present a 2-hour program that includes state-of-the-art telescopes and laser pointers to guide you around the constellations and objects of the night sky. We also provide guests an up-close view of celestial objects (galaxies, nebulae, clusters) through our powerful telescopes. Hot beverages are provided as well, such as hot chocolate, coffee and tea. Cancelled tour, but handled it with the utmost integrity and professionalism.

Just adding this review to comment on the professionalism of the crew. We had a reservation and because of incoming/developing wind and cloud cover over the late afternoon it had to be cancelled. Disappointment aside, the crew at SJT kept us in the loop throughout the day and once it was clear that we would not have an optimal experience they called it. We were issued a full refund without hesitation since we could not reschedule. I respect and greatly appreciate the integrity it takes for a small outfit like this to preserve their reputation and put the guest experience first. They deserve recognition for that alone. Look forward to doing it when we return.

Devon and Daniel were excellent guides, very knowledgeable and kind. I have a mild mobility limitation and they were extremely helpful and considerate, making sure I had an appropriate chair and was comfortable. Five stars!

It was a perfect curator evening. Our tour started with an introduction of the planets and their relative distance and composition. Our astronomer guide was very knowledgeable and passionate. The telescope setup was fantastic and allowed us to see things up close. It was such a fun experience. Dress warm.

Directions and signage was well thought out. The entire experience was wonderful. Our guide/ astronomer was so knowledgeable and passionate about the entire experience. The explanations and descriptions helped to make the experience easier to understand and the telescopes just heightened the experience. The tour was very responsive to my texts prior to arrival as we had unexpected delays and were very accommodating. I give it a 12!!
