Overview

It is a great luxury to visit the Alhambra with an official guide who, in addition to other languages, speaks classical Arabic and is able to translate all the mural inscriptions and Arabic calligraphy that fills the walls of the Alhambra and make you feel the monument and transport you to the time of the sultans of the last Muslim kingdom on the Iberian Peninsula.

Pricey but 100% worth it if you can afford it

This was an excellent tour. It is pricey but having left it too long to get other tickets it was our only option to get in to see the Alhambra. That said, we had no regrets as our tour guide Yosin was incredibly knowledgeable and he was able to adapt the tour to our pace and interests and answer all of our questions. That just wouldn’t have been possible any other way. Whether it was the history, the architecture or the flora and fauna, he knew it all and had some interesting and amusing facts at every point along the way. One note -on January the 2nd it was freezing cold up there, no doubt it’s roasting hot in the summer - with so much exposed walking- make sure you come prepared for the elements.

I can’t recommend Alex enough! It was incredible to have a personal tour of the Alhambra - but was made an even more special experience entirely thanks to our guide Alex! My mom is older and Alex was helpful in making sure we took a good route that was easier for her, while still seeing all the best views. The best part was that he was SO knowledgeable on the history of the palace, which was amazing because my mom had a million questions- which he was happy to oblige! 5 stars all around!
