Highly recommend this trip. Our driver, Darko was special. Friendly and pleasant to chat with...and he took us to a great place for lunch.
After Darko picked us up at our hotel in Zagreb, we headed for Slovenia. The only semi hassle was that the line at border control took a while, so plan a little extra time. We left at 8:00 for our 11:30 tickets at Postojama Cave. The Cave is fascinating, but beware it's cold in there, so bring an extra layer. There's an electric train that takes you part way and then you walk and stop at various points to listen to the audio guide which is quite informative.
The next stop was the Predjama Castle. In a picturesque setting, this castle (really a fortress) was also interesting and worth seeing.
And then it was on to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It's a sweet town, with a river running through it, and 3 bridges crossing it near the main square. Lots of cafes, bars and gelato as well as plenty of shops for a bit of retail therapy. (Unfortunately most shops were closed as it was Sunday evening.)
We enjoyed our trip and truly appreciated Darko's insights and careful driving. It was a special day.
