Overview

Joining us, you will learn more about the nearly 50 years of the Vietnam War, as well as historical triumphs and noteworthy bravery moments in Hanoi. You will be guided by local students to historical sites like Huu Tiep Lake and the Downed B-52, Vietnam Military History Museum, and Hoa Lo Prison in order to experience the pride and spirit of the country. You also can join a workshop to make tire sandals for yourself. By choosing our tour, not only will you have a memorable and personalized experience, but you will also be supporting the education and future of our local students. NOTE: Some museums close at Monday every week. Recommned starting time: • Moring: 9am – 12pm • Afternoon: 2pm – 5pm

  • Ho Chi Minh Museum

    (Schedule is flexible) Our tour guide will pick you up at meeting point then we will move to Ho Chi Minh Museum by taxi or grab. The whole museum is a elaborate description of Ho Chi Minh’s life.

  • Huu Tiep Lake and the Downed B-52

    Our next two destination is The B-52 Victory Museum Hanoi where are exhibiting: weapons, images, documents, wreckage and many other things that praise the cunning and creative mind of Hanoi’s troops and its residents.

  • Vietnam Military History Museum

    Then, we will visit Vietnam Military History Museum where includes the wreckage of an American B-52 bomber, an M107 self-propelled gun, and a military tank that had ploughed through the gates of Saigon’s Presidential Palace, thus ending the Vietnam War in 1975.

  • B52 Victory Museum

    Our next stop is Hanoi B52 Victory Museum where tells the history of the Vietnam People's Air Force (VPAF) from its formation in 1954 to the present day

  • Hoa Lo Prison

    Then we will move to Hoa Lo Prison which ironically nicknamed the ‘Hanoi Hilton’ by US prisoners of war (POWs) during the American War. Most exhibits relate to the prison’s use up to the mid-1950s, focusing on the Vietnamese struggle for independence from France.

Hue half day trip with private guide

Our private guide Hung was so friendly and informative. He showed us around the Imperial Citadel and the Pagoda in Hue. We then had a boat trip on the Perfume river. Well worth the money ans we learnt about the history in Hue and Vietnam. Thank you Hung!

A MUST GO TOUR

The tour was absolutely amazing. During the visit, our three tour guides (Annie, Hung and Oanh) explained the history, culture and life in Hanoi past and present. The Ho Chin Minh museum enabled us to understand the historical context of Vietnam under the incredible leadership of one amazing man…Ho Chin Minh. Oanh was an excellent guide and teacher in this historical journey. The visit to the Hoa Lo Prison highlighted the strength and resilience of the Vietnamese people in their fight for independence. It was a pleasure to be in the company of Annie and Hung as they explained the significance of the whole complex and the individual sections. Most importantly, they let us have a personal glimpse of life in Hanoi when we walked with them through the French quarter and to a typical house in Hanoi. We both were amazed by their openness, knowledge and their explanations in very clear English. I have travelled in over 50 countries, but without doubt this 6 hour was the BEST one that we both had ever experienced. Absolutely amazing.

No trip to Vietnam is complete w/o a stop at the Hanoi Hilton

I lived through the Vietnam War, when boys were being drafted into a war many of us thought was immoral. Vietnam has been fighting Imperialist occupation for centuries. Much of the prison tour is devoted to the 20th century occupation by the French. The part about our "involvement" (euphemism for carpet bombing them day after day after day) was intense. My guide gave detailed info about the history and spirit of his countrymen and women that has led to a free Vietnam today. Definitely recommend a private tour so that you can ask questions and linger over parts of the exhibit at your own pace.

A beautiful experience

We were a group of 10 and had Ly and Davis. Thankful for their guide as they were flexible enough to work around our preferences and schedule. It was a beautiful experience as the guides had genuine interest to know more about our culture as well. Without them, we would not be aware of the various museum closing time around lunch time. We also get to visit some less touristy places related to the Vietnam War.

Wonderful morning with Lindy and Heen

We had a wonderful morning with Lindy and her colleague Heen who was learning. We modified the tour a bit as we wanted to finish around lunchtime. It was a fantastic morning and they were both really knowledgeable and explained so much of the history of the Vietnam/ French war and then we learnt about the Vietnam/ American war as there was a lot of information about that also at the end of the tour. There were quite a few Vietnam soldiers at the Hoa Lo prison and when we were outside I asked Lindy if she thought they would mind having a photo. She said no they would be happy to and then spoke to them on our behalf they were so happy that we asked them and we all got photos with them and they were so friendly and welcomed us to Vietnam and wished our family well. Lindy made sure she had answered everything that we wanted to know about the history and it was also lovely to chat with her about her studies and her life. I highly recommend this tour to anyone that is traveling to Hanoi we learnt a lot
