Itinerary

  • Esplanade des Quinconces (Pass By)

Located on the banks of the river, it is the largest square in Europe. 12 hectares, with, as its name suggests, trees planted in a staggered row on each side of an esplanade which hosts popular events all year round.

  • Place de la Bourse (Pass By)

In the 18th century, it took 20 years of work to create the emblematic Place de Bordeaux! Here begins the erasure of medieval Bordeaux, locked within its walls for centuries. Finally, Bordeaux liberated!

  • Porte Cailhau (Pass By)

Built at the end of the 15th century, during the reign of the King of France Charles VIII who began the Italian Wars, the Porte Cailhau is also a triumphal arch to the glory of the king, victorious at the Battle of Fornoue in 1495, in the province of Parma. You can admire the statue of the sovereign towards the Garonne, accompanied by his coat of arms on the facade facing the city.

  • Porte de Bourgogne (Pass By)

The Porte de Bourgogne is located at the end of the old ditches of Salinières, current Cours Victor Hugo (former rue des Fossés) on the site of the old medieval gate of Salinières. It marks the official entrance to the city on the old road leading to Paris. Tourny wanted it to constitute an accompaniment to the Place Royale (current Place de la Bourse) and dedicated it to Prince Monseigneur the Duke of Burgundy on January 24, 1757.

  • Cathedrale Saint-Andre Bordeaux (Pass By)

It’s obvious, it doesn’t have the look of the cathedrals of Ile de France. Difficult for it to compete with Amiens, Chartres or Reims, however its heterogeneous appearance has something unexpected and endearing, particularly with its independent bell tower.

  • Palais de Justice (Pass By)

The judicial center of Bordeaux is notably made up of the Palais de Justice, a monumental building which symbolizes justice. A place rich in stories, big and small, tragic and often little-known or unspoken, now symbols of human rights.

  • Place Gambetta (Pass By)

Place Gambetta is one of the main squares in Bordeaux, a city in the Gironde. With its ordered facades, it is one of the most important urban architectural ensembles in Bordeaux. The square, formerly the work of architect André Portier, underwent urban redevelopment in 2021 by the team of town planners and landscapers West 8 and Sabine Haristoy.

  • Base Sous-Marine de Bordeaux (Pass By)

The Submarine Base is one of five bases built on the Atlantic coast during the Second World War. Today, part of the building is accessible to the public and includes: - multi-purpose spaces dedicated to creation and dissemination managed by the City of Bordeaux (General Directorate of Cultural Affairs), - the Bassins des Lumières, digital art center

  • Pont Jacques Chaban Delmas (Pass By)

A true architectural feat, the Jacques Chaban-Delmas bridge is a contemporary technical feat. Its broad, fluid lines extend the quays and blend in perfectly with the landscape. It constitutes a very elegant alliance of technique and aesthetics which brings a touch of modernity to the town planning of the city.

  • Quais De Bordeaux (Pass By)

The quays of Bordeaux constitute one of the most magnificent urban heritage sites in the world, with their 18th century facades including numerous buildings classified or registered as historic monuments. They are at the heart of the exceptional urban ensemble, inscribed on the World Heritage list by UNESCO in 2007.

  • Grand Theatre (Pass By)

Of all the public buildings in Bordeaux, the Grand-Théâtre is undoubtedly the best known and most appreciated. It stands on the site of the ancient temple of the Pillars of Guardianship which punctuated the ancient Gallo-Roman forum.
