Overview

Set in the Cumbrian Countryside, our unique setting gives travellers an insight into local species as well and the importance of falconry to English heritage. Discover why Kings of England kept the Falconers so close, and the role falconers played in Medieval Britain. Our experience is personal, with lots of local knowledge about Carlisle and the surrounding Lake District, and families can get up close and personal to our range of birds. It is all set in the outdoors, so great way to get the kids out of the house. A Family activity is for 2 adults and 3 children. If you wish to bring other adults on this booking you can pay for additional participants when you arrive.

Itinerary

Our Family experience is a one hour activity, introducing you to all the birds of on our site which includes owls, eagles, falcons, vultures and kestrels. We will learn all about their habitats and their behaviour and show the family how to fly the birds, there will even be time for a few pictures as our birds love the cameras. All set in Cumbrian countryside by our expert Cumbrians who have farmed in this land for over a century. Our Trip Advisor sessions start at 9am, but if you wish to move this to another time you can do. Please call us on 07900 531032 to do that.

Very knowledgeable host, the birds are well cared for and loved. If you’re interested in birds or wildlife, flying some of these gorgeous creatures yourself is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

Really enjoyable experience for the whole family, the host was knowledgeable and interacted so well with our young family. Learning and flying the birds was fun and our small children were in awe. Highly recommend to anyone local or visiting if you haven’t already popped along.

I booked the Couples Experience as a surprise for my husband, as he loves birds and we were staying in Longtown on holiday. Gary was absolutely brilliant and extremely knowledgeable, taking us around his various owls and other birds of prey...Hootie, Alan, and Buzz, to name a few, were absolutely gorgeous, and taking Buzz out on our walk was simply amazing. He flew with us as we walked the grounds, perching and eating, and flying back and forth. Our owl experience was just as good as Alan was doing the same over a shorter distance. We truly had an amazing day, it was something we will remember for the rest of our lives, and a huge thank you to Gary for his patience and expertise! Absolutely brilliant morning. Book it now.
