  • Ephesus Terrace Houses

    The wealthy people of the city lived in the houses built on terraces on the slopes of BĂĽlbĂĽl Mountain. The houses that were built around an open peristillium courtyard consisted of two floors. The houses, the first construction date of which was identified as the 1st century AD, were used in the following years with various additional modifications until the city was finally abandoned. The floors of the houses are decorated with mosaics and the walls are decorated with marble and frescoes. The houses had fountains and underfloor heating systems.

Excellent agency. Very responsive, and (as advertised) absolutely no shopping stops (that all other operators take you to, as we experienced) or anything that wastes time. Very knowledgeable, very friendly, one of the highlights of our Turkey trip. Highly, highly recommended for either the Ephesus trip or the PMD (Priene/Miletus/Didyma) trip.

We are experienced travelers and rarely book tours. In fact, this was our only guided tour on a two-week independent trip to Turkey. But Ephesus is an important sight and we wanted someone with extensive historical knowledge to guide our visit. Metin exceeded our expectations! He answered all of questions from a Biblical perspective. Best of all, we BEAT THE TOUR BUSES! We had Ephesus to ourselves for the first two hours. It was magical!! Don’t waste your precious vacation time on a group tour that forces you to go shopping! Book a No Frills tour and you will not regret it. Highly, highly recommend. One million stars.

We did a full day private tour with Metin and it far exceeded our expectations. We worked with Mehmet on the planning and he was quick at response and very flexible (we had museum passes so this reduced the cost). On the day Metin was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining as he explained a great depth the history of the area and the stories of the people who lived here. We came away with our heads nearly exploding with amazing facts and insights we certainly would not have gotten just seeing the sites on our own. Having the tour private meant that while it cost a little more we wasted no time waiting on others and could choose exactly what we wanted to see and do- we weren’t tied to a schedule and on the day rearranged the order of everything to avoid cruise ship buses - again something we wouldn’t have been able to do on our own. Thanks for the great day.

An excellent tour. Metin was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and friendly with a good sense of humour. He really brought Ephesus to life. Mehmet was very responsive to questions etc around our booking and arranged for us to get to the airport after the tour finished. Nothing was too much trouble. Ephesus was one of the absolute highlights of our trip and I'm so pleased we went with No Frills Ephesus. I highly recommend them, and would definitely book with them again.
