Overview

The south of Bourgogne/Burgundy produces white wine, it's a region known as Mâconnais which is the border with beaujolais region. The area's first source of income is wine, it's not an industry, it's a lifestyle as there are mainly small producers who are free to create in their own style as long as they stay within limits defined by the industry. We've been coming here forever, we know the ins and outs of the area and we take pride in being the friend of a friend you'd like to have in a place you didn't know. We travel too and we hate being treated as tourists but we love being travelers. That's what we hope to do for you! The tour description above is an outline of what we can do, we usually end up adapting the content of the half day to maximize the value for money and time you put in us.

Verze

Our first stop will be in the vines on a nice view point where we'll tell you about the wine in Burgundy as we open a bottle from that very vine for you to taste.

Vergisson

We'll make our way by small country roads to a quaint village hidden between two hills to visit a winery and taste a pretty good white wine. The idea is to show you a winery after having seen a the vine.

La Roche de Solutre

This hill has quite the story, the oldest trace of human presence dates back from the pre historical age and its latest history dates from the french president in the 80's who'd walk up the hill every year to pay his respect to the french resistance of world war 2. We can walk up there if you're up for it, it's an easy 40 min walk at a slow pace.

Solutre-Pouilly

This village is probably the most famous one on today's tour. We'll be telling you about a real druid who lives here, we'll tell you about this unique personality and the wine he grows. We'll also stop for a proper wine tasting of different wines of the region with the help of a professional.

For our last stop, we'll visit a domain run by a young couple that represent this new generations of winemakers who will give us a taste of their wine grown both in Mâconnais (Bourgogne) and Beaujolais, they will also share their take on new techniques and trends.

Loved our private wine tasting today with Amelie. The Bourjelais area is very pretty and it was great to see all the grapes and really good to chat with the wine maker about winemaking techniques and how the wine is made in France which is different to Australia. We had two different wine tastings and tried both whites and reds and we also enjoyed the market and the cheeses and cured meats. All at all a fun outing. Really friendly host great fun bouncing around in the Land Rover Valerie knowledgeable about the area and the wine and the cheese and Cubeatz also superb.

The best tour I have ever been on! It would be hard to summarise in words how good it was. It was the perfect mix of tasting fabulous wine, while relaxing, chatting and enjoying the french countryside. All the places we visited were a different experience making the day varied. The tasting was relaxed without the hard sell and expecting us to purchase. We also learnt so much about the region and the wine preparation. Insiders were incredibly accommodating to our needs, allowing us to bring our puppies with us and making sure we could visit places that allowed dogs, advising on which trains to catch etc. The tour was so well thought through and felt incredibly personalised. I could not recommend enough, I only wish we had done the full day tour!

The best personal tour ever. Our guide Aldric, knew his district and the history of the area. Visiting very local wine makers which was very interesting and so friendly. Highly recommend.

The tour was awesome and I was introduced to Mâconnais wines. Since I ended up being the only person on the tour, I also was able to do Beaujolais tastings.

We were 9 people, so we drove in two cars. Both drivers were very friendly, spoke English well, and provided interesting information and answered questions during the tour. The tour included wine tasting in two different places, as well as a stop for a wonderful view of the surrounding area. The car drive also provided a nice view of the countryside. The first wine tasting offered an interesting insight into how the same grape can give different tasting wines depending on the growing conditions. The second wine tasting was in a beautiful and cosy garden, and was accompanied by some delicious cheeses. Overall, we are all very happy with the experience, and would strongly recommend this tour.
