You may have already realised you need a change. One too many all inclusive holidays, one too many nights on the sofa watching Netflix and smashing a litre tub of ice cream and a grab bag or two of chocolates followed by another of crisps. You might have been like me, just turned 50 with your own mortality heading towards you like an express train. You might already have a gym membership, bought with the best of intentions but never actually used. You might even spend ages staring into the fridge wondering what it is your body really needs...
What you actually need is help, guidance, a huge community of positive people to lift you up and set you on the right path, and dedicated team like Prime Revive to work closely with you on how to break the cycle and create the DNA of a new you.
I already loved Thailand. It's not a hard place to come. Deciding to book this retreat was much easier though, after a pre-bookimg call from the team about what they had to offer and what goals I'd like to set. After being collected from the airport and delivered to the hotel they'd arranged, I unpacked, dug through the goodie bag of cool fitness related products that was waiting on my bed, and went to sleep chuckling to myself about one of the neon signs on the strip that said 'Bad decisions make good stories'... we'll see.
I awoke and headed down to the cafe restaurant that prepares all of your carefully planned meals during the day, and met the team. They got a proper look at me, we did a 3d scan to get a look at my sexy body (you know the film), and they delivered an honest, but fair appraisal of where I was and what they wanted for me from my time there. We walked the strip together, introducing me to restaurants that specialised in the clean and healthy food I needed (for my evening meals), to gyms, Thai Boxing clubs, Cross Fit Style fitness clubs, Physio/massage teams, a whole host of related business on a mile long strip, run by people that would become my wider support network and friends over the next two weeks - almost like the wires and pipes of a life support machine, that would be feeding me, monitoring me, teaching me and supporting me on this incredible journey.
Then we started to work. A cleverly planned and executed timetable of classes, treks, experiences and therapies that took me to the edge of my capabilites at first, and then with constant support from the team I burst through every barrier put in front of me. The work is hard - but the rewards were clear. I trained as part of a group. Some already had done a week or two or more, so they could share how it would progress, lend their experience to me when it was tough. Some were new like me, and we would pull each other along in cycles when we felt we had good strength or at times when we needed people to shout, scream and cheer us along.
We trained like a family - this was not travelling solo any more.
In terms of achievement - they won't let you fail. By sticking to the plan Prime Revive set out for me, I'm stronger mentally and physically, I'm back home now, and doing all of the things they taught me, eating well, training well and most importantly, having fun and looking forward to it every time. I'm changing shape, I'm changing my life.
This is the best way to make that change. You won't regret it.
I'm going back for a victory lap next year. Hope I see you there and hope that you become part of the family.
