Itinerary

  • Pinacoteca Ambrosiana

Make your way to the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan, just five minutes away from the famous Piazza Duomo.  With your entry ticket in hand, you'll step straight inside the museum to enter the exhibit of the Codex Atlanticus: Leonardo da Vinci’s personal collection of drawings and notes.  Offering insight into the creative mind of the Renaissance artist and inventor, the exhibit showcases select pages from the collection, and these are rotated regularly. If you want to see the rest — the Codex Atlanticus has more than 1,000 pages — head to the museum’s library. Your admission ticket grants access to all the main areas of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana.  Explore its halls to see works of art by Botticelli, Titian, Raphael, and more. Caravaggio’s Basket of Fruit, a still-life painting, is just one of the highlights.   How long you stay inside the museum is up to you. The recommended visit time is 1.5 hours.

Studying 15th Century Italian Art With Pleasure At The Ambrosiana

Published on Dec, 2024

In November of 2024,I spent a productive day assiduously studying the Ambrosiana's splendid collection of Italian Paintings from the 15th,16th,and 17th Centuries.Since their collection of Italian Paintings is quite extensive,I have devoted this review to its 15th Century Paintings.15th Century Renaissance Period Italian Painters with stellar paintings included; Leonardo Da Vinci("Portrait of Musician"),Bernardino Luini("Holy Family With Saint Anne and John The Baptist")("Christ Child With Lamb"),Bramantino("Nativity"),Marco D'Oggiono("Madonna and Christ Child With Saints John Baptist and Evangelist"),Sandro Botticelli("Madonna and Child With 3 Angels"),Titian("Adoration of Magi"),Fra Carnevale("Saint Francis")Bonifaco Veronese("Holy Family with Saint John Baptist,Tobias, and Archangel Raphael":),and Marco Basaiti("Christ Resurrected").I spent five and a half hours savoring wonderful Italian Art and fine paintings by Flemish Master,Paul Bril.Furthermore,I appreciated the intimate atmosphere of the Ambrosiana.

Inspiring cultural break from the Duomo crowds

Published on Nov, 2024

Definitely worth a visit. The place is not too crowded during weekends, so it is a good cultural break from a bath in the masses at Duomo. The draft of the School of Athens by Rafael is a must see, amazing how well planned this painting was and how many curious changes he made to the final version in the end.

Works of art and history.

An excellent exhibit to visit the rooms and the collections of work. Self guided and ease to go through over time. Worth a visit while in Milan. Easy access by Metro and a short walk over.

Beautiful and interesting

Published on Sep, 2024

Unexpectedly really good. I thought it might be quite nice to visit but it is better than that. The art is beautifully lit, and some of the curiosities, (such as a lock of Lucrezia Borgia's hair) are really interesting. The audio is great. It tells a story. It doesn't just spit out facts.

Why waste your time at the Duomo when you can be here!

Published on Sep, 2024

Got there just after opening at 10:00. It was an amazing and humbling experience. Start on the first floor which is up about 40 large steps (take the elevator if you can). There are some amazing paintings up there- Titian, Botticelli, Ghilandaio and a really cool tracing for the Athens Academy at the Vatican. Then go downstairs and see Leonardo: we had him all to ourselves. Honestly, steps from the Duomo and arguably way more important. Please go!
