Overview

In this tour - but that's just one of the experiences you can live with Pagus - we will take you to an extraordinary land called Valpolicella. Its wine is considered legendary since Roman times. You’ll learn about the history of our wines and of this great territory. On Valpolicella wine route you will admire panoramic views of hills and vineyards, with a stop at the hamlet of San Giorgio di Valpolicella. Moreover, during the tasting in a local cellar, you will discover the entire range of Valpolicella wines DOC (Controlled Denomination of Origin) and DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin) such as Valpolicella, Ripasso, his majesty Amarone and Recioto. Join our half day wine tour (around 3,5 hours) developed for those who want to spend an afternoon far from the town, in the calm countryside, tasting good wine with the company of other wine lovers.

Pieve di San Giorgio di Valpolicella

Our guide will lead the guest to discover the Medieval parish church of San Giorgio di Valpolicella, built in the XII century on a previus Roman temple and representing one of the most interesting Romanesque architecture in Northern Italy. Since 2015 the town of San Giorgio is in the list of the Most Beautiful Hamlets of Italy.

In the cellar the temperature is constant 15 Celsius degrees (59 Fahrenheit), so we suggest to take with you a sweater or a jacket; if it will be possible we will try to show you the vineyards, so it’s recommended to wear sneakers or comfortable shoes.

Wonderful & Welcoming

We loved our tour and tasting, it was the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon in Verona. We were lucky enough to go and visit the Franchini winery, a small family-run business. Both our driver and the host of our wine-tasting were fantastic, very welcoming and we learned so much about the Valpolicella region and the wine itself. We sampled five different wines, you're also able to buy and ship bottles if there are any you really enjoy, but there was no pressure at all to do this. I'd really recommend this tour, rain or shine, it's a great way to spend half a day.

Beautiful country side, visited lovely little church which had been prepared for a wedding, so even more quaint. Wine tasting excellent, owner very informative without being in the least pretentious. Snacks very generous so happy bunnies we were. Driver and vehicle excellent and scenery out of this world with Lake Garda way in the distance. First class.

The whole experience was truly wonderful. I treated my parents to the Valpolicella half day trip and they thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. It was well structured and insightful but I believe we got the jackpot with our tour guide, Bernadette..!! She was welcoming and accommodating from the outset and could not do enough to ensure the whole group was involved and comfortable. 10/10 and will definitely re visit. Thank you Bernadette x
