Overview

Lessons in Italian or English(minimum two guests).Instagr: Teresa cooking lessons in the garden Italy. -This gastronomic and authentic experience is for lovers of traditional Sicilian culture and cuisine. The activity starts at the Ortigia market and continues in my villa in the Arenella area with the traditional Sicilian cooking lesson. -You will find yourself in a relaxing environment surrounded by greenery. During the lesson you will be able to cook yourself, I will explain in an engaging, clear and simple way how to prepare a delicious menu .The meal may include meat or fish or vegetables of excellent quality.The chef will contact you about the menu..The recipes are always seasonal and with fresh local food, bought at the market. You will cook family recipes.

Meeting points

.The meeting point is in front of the Salumeria Burgio at the market. You will need a car to get from the market to my house. I can provide the transport(€15 per person ).If you need transportation to go to the market I can provide it. In this case there will be three transports at a cost of €20 cash.

Itinerary

Teresa invites you (at least two guests)to participate in this complete experience on Sicilian food and culture.We will meet at 8.45 at the Ortigia market( Burgio Salumeria). The market is near the port , where the cruise ships dock.The activity begins with a pleasant walk on the street of the market to discover local food.The experience includes :food tasting,the description of fresh and preserved food ,basic recipes of Sicilian cuisine , shopping food for the lesson and finally you will have as a gift a selection of useful family recipes to cook at home.Ortigia market tour lasts an hour from 8.45to 9.45. The cooking class with lunch starts at 10.00 a.m. in my villa with garden in the ARENELLA area, (15 minutes drive).You will need a car,I can provide the transport(extra €15 per person).You will make a traditional meal ( 3 courses ) and you will eat the fresh food you cooked.The experience ends at 13.00. If during your vacation you have time for a food and authentic experience, this will be pleasant ,instructive and relaxing.Participate with family or friends.

Brilliant cooking lesson and experience in Ortigia

Perfect end to our stay in Sicily. This was a last minute decision - and we were glad we made the decision. She was perfect. She explained different vegetables and recipes in the Ortigia market and also made us taste a few special ones. Taking us back to her villa, she was very patient and taught us how to make 3 types of pasta - specific to Syracuse. She also helped us with some great sauce recipes, specially the pepper one - the one we loved the most was the swordfish with the breading - bellissimo. She was a great host and we would love to come back and repeat this. Very recommended

Amazing experience to make authentic Sicilian food with a terrific Sicilian. The meal was delicious and we left stuffed and happy. Our teenagers thoroughly enjoyed learning various cooking techniques and had a blast making their own pasta for the first time.

Great Tour with a Local from Sicily

We enjoyed our tour with a true local from the Syracusa area of Sicily. The tour begins with a very informative tour and discussion of the outdoor market. Samples of local cheeses (we especially loved the ricotta!), mini sandwiches, fruits and vegetables. Our guide purchased foods that were to be used in our cooking class. After the market tour we traveled by car to our guide’s private home for our cooking lesson and lunch. The guide was kind enough to supply us with the recipes of the dishes we prepared. The lesson was very easy follow. After cooking we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with a nice table wine. A few tips for future guests, the guide’s English is good, if you speak Italian it’s a bit easier to follow the instructions. Her home is quaint, so large groups may find the space small. This tour is best enjoyed by 2-4 people maximum.
